I was asked for it. I used my pension statement for last year and letter stating the amount. I gave them copies of them and showed the originals mailed to me.
I just used a one year and one month bank statement, my bank book that showed over 2 years of monthly transfers and a standard letter from the bank.
I still work... wondering what they want? good question huh....lol ........ I can show a brokerage account the money from my company pays into. I will probably just put 400000 in a bank account. Who knows with these people

I am considering showing income for a marriage extension soon.
Did any of these offices ask for proof of origin , or where the money comes from? like a pension or dividends, work etc. Or is the bank letter showing the FTT transfers for one year and letter showing balance of that day enough?

Has anyone extended their marriage visa at Chiang Mai by showing bank documents of money transfers (12) of minimum 40000 baht from abroad into thai bank account recently?
Not having 400000 in bank for 2 months.
Not having letter from embassy.
any problems or run around?

Marriage visa in January renewal. I always used an embassy letter before, now not possible with USA.
So the way I understand it... I need 12 transfers from outside thailand that are over 40000 baht to satisfy the income requirement ? is that correct
This way I do not have to deposit 400000 in my account for 2 months prior to renewal date....? Correct?
I am getting conflicting stories. Wife went to Chiang mai immigration today and they told her can only use lump sum method.
thanks ubonjoe

I have an emergency. Can I get a re entry permit at the Chiang mai airport instead of the immigration office? If possible, anyone know the hours the airport office is staffed ? Papers needed and photo ?
Thanks for the help in advance.

The next 90 day check in will be from the time you enter the country again. I went to check in and was told my original 90 day slip was not valid and I was too early and was to calculate from my date of entry. I doubt anything will come from it. The whole ninety day process is basically just an exercise of harassment.
there may be an issue when you do your extension again. It beats me if all those check ins and copies of passport pages are recorded.
Make sure to get re entry permit.

It is a good thing that Thai immigration never reads this website, or else they might get some ideas from all this information that is shared. But dont worry, they would never look at this website. So just keep on discussing certain loopholes or changes that are needed to make it even more difficult to stay in Thailand.

For the long termers.. Has it ever flooded ??
And when the ping does flood, where does it generally break its banks and where do the flood waters tend to lie ??
It flooded in 2005 or whenever the big flood hit chiang mai and was under water up to the club house/pool area from the ping river. I have lived here for about 7 years(leaving in may) and that is the only time i have seen it flood.
Nice place to live but the airplanes are getting irritating. The new airport is planned but will be years away. Quite a few flights that pass directly over the west end on take offs. They keep raising the monthly fees, the owner is trying to shove it off on residents at this point, not sure what that will bring. Maintenance is non existent to the gym and tennis which are about unuseable. They rebuilt the pool not long ago, but they cant seem to test the water correctly so it turns green quite often as it is not cleaned regularly. Lots of construction and will be built out within a few years thus losing appeal. Rents have gone thru the roof, or they try to go thru the roof, as it used to be very affordable. There seem to be more farang in here with the thai speculator trying to hook one with some really outrageous rents. Trash collection is good.Water service is good and no need for a tank, internet service is very good and the electricity can go out during wind storms it seems, I guess could be stronger but still good. The street sweepers that you are billed for have been fired. Security is a joke, but you get what you pay for and are pretty nice guys.

I just bought one yesterday at Siam T.V. at Chiang Mai Gate. 3 burner top with an extra space and gas oven. Altogether 7,400 Baht. Only one style though. My friend bought one a few years ago and its still working fine. Upstairs in the back.
I bought one at power buy like the one above, about 8,000 baht if I remember right, works great. wife does breads, cookies, roasts, cakes etc.. single gas burner in oven, three on top.

I lived near Wachiwarit school for quite a while. I was teaching english at the time and went there for a interview. I taught one class and it was chaos, there were at least 60 kids in the room with half out of their chairs playing. If I remember correctly they wanted me to use a bull horn because of the noise. I always saw lots of students during school hours in the internet cafes around changklan rd. I wasn't impressed.
My son goes to varee and enjoys school. Class sizes are limited to around 30. It is a little more expensive than wachiwarit, overall think worth the extra baht.

My gold broker in Chiang Mai is Khun Tik, her business is in the heart of Chinatown and is one of the larger gold shops. She always has all sizes of gold bars on hand, speaks english and I have used her for years. 053-234060

I didn't do a prenuptial because
1) I live in Thailand
2) I have no assets in Thailand and will never have any (not allowed to own property)
3) I have no intention to ever take my wife out of Thailand
4) Thai rak Thai (aka you can't trust a Thai court or solicitor)
Not sure how a prenuptial will help you fight child abduction?
Exactly. just keep your shit out of here and haul ass if you have to.

move. I hope you are a renter for your sake.

tpb back in CM on 3bb
-
3BB appears to be blocking the pirate bay. I tried just now from my 3BB, and can't access it - it just times out. Then I tried over my iPhone's internet (True 3G) and it works just fine, it comes up instantly. So either it's 3BB. Or it's someone downstream of 3BB.
It's been on and off over the last few weeks - previously, I was able to access TPB over my 3BB, but it would time out on downloading any of the torrents. Or it would eventually download torrents (the .torrent definition file - not the actual torrent) but at a very low speed, like 0.1KB/s with lots of stalls, so it would take 10 minutes to download a 20KB file.
Now once you have acquired the torrent, torrenting content is fast as usual on 3BB. I get my full 10 Mbit, e.g. 1.2 MB/s.
That U.S. block notice is interesting, could you take a pic next time? I googled a bit and found TPB is blocked in quite a few european countries. Not in the USA though.
I called them and complained.
this really sucks.
This is NOT a Thai Government block and so we should be able to discuss ways around. Seems to only affect 3BB in any case, so you could use any other provider to acquire the .torrent files, then load them in your torrent program and use 3BB to download as usual.
I don't like this trend. I have 3bb and no PB for a few days.
