Lovely and wise post. Especially if one is aware of al007's current health problems.
Kind words, thank you, means a great deal to me, and gives me strength
Pick and choose advice advice on TV as anywhere in the world, and you can find kindness love and good advice
Next week I am back in Bangkok for more investigations, but so far so good
Some of my memories from my boating times are magical, the night running through the skinny (8/9ft) blue waters of the Bahamas, and dolphins jumping when I clapped, also watching the shadow of the boat from the full moon on the sand below, many said it is too dangerous to run those waters at night, but with care and diligence we did and survived
Then there was the night anchored just north of the Panama Canal, close to the shore, with the wind coming off shore, a settled barometer, and fair forecast, we had about 300 ft of chain down, and all of a sudden it went from calm to tropical storm, and the wind clocked 180 degrees
I only had a wife with me with very little experience, she had many other good attributes, so could not raise the anchor and get out as if there had been one slip we would have been wrecked on a desolate shore miles from anywhere, the rain and storm was so strong the shore was lost from sight, and could only be seen on the radar, we sat it out and prayed the anchor would hold, we lived to tell the tale
Many said I always put down too much chain, but I followed my instinct, and that night it may well have saved our lives
And I still drive in Thailand despite its risks
Boating is not for the weak hearted, but it can also give experiences you may never find elsewhere

From age 21 when I owned a 21ft mystic sloop to age 65 when I owned a 60ft twin engine trawler, 50 tns ( LAST one had it all water maker, air con, two generators, deep freezes, ice makers , vacuum heads etc etc if you are that way inclined a wonderful life, i have cruised the Atlantic Pacific Caribbean, Aust , Nz in fact been most places, and both canals!
I spent 15 years cruising the world from age 50 to 65
And today I still miss it but live happily ashore, at least I have been there and done it, and all without any professional crew
Remember we only live once, well thats what I believe, not for the feint hearted but go for it

If you can get income letter from your embassy, this may suffice, and no deposit required

I can assist, we can probably have a good time and no money left in 24/48 hrs

You do not get a booking reference until you pay for the flight and it is the booking reference that the embassy/consulate is looking for.
booking reference = paid confirmed flight
Suspect information, I think it varies by airline
Air asia definitely give you booking ref before you pay also give you the option with the booking ref of paying at 7 11
Turkish give you ref, when we went there they waited for payment until the Turkish visa received

If you read the hole topic instead of just what you wanna read you would see i not have any ticket down yet.
And i really hope you get another hobby then writing shit to people on all forums you come across. For what you know.. Maybe it was pretty good reasons to have an overstay? Or maybe it was none. Nobody has asked.
Have a good day!
Maybe some of us are being unkind and unchristian, and if so I appologise
Maybe this is just a simple, rather angry lady/divorcee trying to earn a living here
Maybe the original poster also has a new TV name, I note she has only been using this one for a matter of hours, and if we had her earlier name we might have more insight and be kinder
From the quality of her English it may well not be an educated lady
My suggestion and strong recommendation dear lady, is do not push your luck, the jails they tell me, here are pretty awful
Maybe if you share your full story and the reasons you were deported and banned, it is possible some real help and advice could be offered
Remember we make a lot of our own luck

I am a simple law abiding and retired man married to a lovely thai lady
I find it so hard to understand the lengths some people go to in order to beat the system
I very fully agree with the get tough immigration policy, I believe it is just these sorts of people who immigration want to keep out
I also thought forum rules prohibited illegal discussions, and surely how to evade the laws and rules falls into this category
I expect my post will be censored and deleted, I hope not
I have copied this post just in case
I would be very interested on the comments of Thai Visa on this matter

Well this is a little unbelievable, as Immigration at present is unable to even do 90day reporting online
Will this be on the existing system which appears already overloaded
Any bets being placed

Sad I see this thread, has reduced to a slanging match, not uncommon on TV
I wonder in todays world can we have a button to press to remove the negative brigade
Well no , it reminds me how good it is to stay positive
Another beautiful sunny day

Are you sure you are bringing enough, what happens if you run out
First class travel is much better, been a few yrs since I travelled that way but for ten yrs it was the only way I knew
Do not listen to those who say you are foolish, they are just jealous

I am a very grateful member of Thai Visa
The help and understanding I have received on medical matters can only be described as outstanding,
TV has helped me to understand better, helped me find the right quality expertise, and saved me some very big money
We meed to remember this forum; correctly is open to all, and at home, I would not associate or necessarily mix with everyone, and everyone is entitled to their view
Thank you all

This is a very good story, and I agree with most of it, if not all, but when you say you vote very strongly in FAVOUR OF THAI IMMIGRATION, do you mean the officers personally? If so, I agree with you, but I do not think us expats, get a good deal here in Thailand, not being allowed to own your house is very unfair, and there are too many unnecessary hoops to jump through. Just my opinion.
Yes primarily I mean the officers personally
My observation, on your comment we do not get a very good deal and can not own property
I would question then why you came here, I do not think the rules have been changed on you
I have to consider the overall package, I live with my Thai wife and "WE' own our property
Taxation for retirees especially non US citizens is extremely advantageous, as I no longer pay UK taxes totally legally
Inheritance Tax so long as very careful, and well documented as non domiciled NO UK IHT
My standard of living in a warm climate, is so far ahead of what I could afford in the UK, we even have two full time helpers in the house and gardens
No Car tax, No TV license, Cheaper car insurance, No property tax No large winter heating bills, Lower clothing costs, on the other side NO free medical,
Its a package may I suggest, and even then the personalities in immigration, do not write the rules, they only implement them
My twopence worth, AND YES I AM VERY HAPPY HERE, nearly ten years and so far so good, (despite hospitals missing signs of TWO different cancers for a couple of years)

Do you really believe that? All Thai immigration ever do is make it harder as the years go by.
I can only speak from my own experience
I am an inpatient man, I do not suffer fools gladly
I keep up to date on immigration requirements, I do my best to give them what they ask for
I do not challenge them about what they say they require
(I do not agree with what they ask for but this is their country not mine)
I dress very smartly as does my wife when we go to immigration
WE ofter run into immigration officials at restaurants, I always smile and buy them a drink
I try to treat them as equals
I travelled the world on my own 60ft trawler yacht, for 12 yrs,and met immigration officials the world over, and generally they were all far far worse than here in Thailand, in the USA they had some of the rudest and most unfriendly I have ever met
My opinions are my property and I know how immigration upsets many TV people, but I vote very strongly in FAVOR OF THAI IMMIGRATION
I also believe we make some of our luck, yes we need it, but we can influence it
Next time when I am mad at immigration ! I will reread my own post and look carefully in the mirror
Incidentally I do not tip immigration officials, but if they did something beyond their normal duty yes I would

Please, give them a break
You can quietly ignore it, a box is very different from demanding money
Those of us with any brains who have been here any time at all know how it all works here
And yes I do oil the hinges on my front gates, they work better that way, and also do not squeak, the cost is not lifestyle threatening
Khon Kaen also has a tip box, and thats very ok by me
Personally I would send the moaners and groaners home, it would be a better place without them, and the overall quality of Thai Visa would also improve

As a retired Chartered Accountant I can advise you with certainty how to know where the Thai Batt vs the Pound Sterling is going to be, at any stage in the future
This is as scientific as the very best forecast
Buy a crystal ball, of course bigger is better , then get a black sheet, cover the ball and ask the operator for the answer,, it does depend on the operator, and this is critical, bar girls tend to be unreliable
This is as good and as reliable as the best of forecasts, and does not cost a lot
Happy Ball Gazing

Surely the easy way is
Arrive on exempt tourist stamp
Change to non 0 can be done in Bangkok, I think this gives you 3 mths, no criminal check required
Have 800,000 batt in account and at end of nonO convert to retirement extension, and also gat multiple reentry permit at the same time
I am sure the experts will say where I am wrong, if I am

I never buy or pay for anything that does not have a price tag on it. This has hopefully made some impact over the years on the profit for those idiots who do not put prices on their stuff.

I cruised the world on my own trawler yacht
By the questions you ask you sound new to the idea, and if you do not have those answers, maybe you are too inexperienced to be doing it
I had a UK MCA Ticket Ocean Going, with commercial endorsement and valid to 150tns
I fixed and did a lot repairs myself, I cruised only with a wife of limited abilities
However this is not for the fainthearted, I started playing with boats when I was 10 and progressed to bigger boats, I cam ashore about 10 yrs ago when I was 62
Good luck enjoy, but it can be a painfully expensive experience if it does not work out, and this is the wrong part of the world to sell a boat

Maybe this is specific to the original poster
Maybe somebody was being wound up
Well if so; obviously it had the desired effect

He he, unless it's the UK!
They will not let you return to settle with your 100% legal Thai wife unless.....
You can prove income in excess of about 18,000GBP per annum.
Your Thai wife must pass the Reading/writing/speaking and knowledge of the UK tests before you can settle at home with her.......
Just sayin.....
Glad to hear that you are happy though.
So
Do I detect the negative brigade
Does anyone marry a Thai wife who can not read and write English, am I living a blinkered life !!
Do you not have a Thai wife able to keep you in the manner to which you might like to become accustomed
As for income your figure is but a drop in the ocean, and exceeded many times over ! ! !
Even the Alsatians have chips and passports, I know they may not be allowed to travel First Class ! !! !!!

I have never been happier in my life than I am today, and I have had far more than most
I have a couple of technical problems like two different cancers, not identified earlier due to possible hospital malpractice
I retired 23 yrs ago, and travelled the world
I screwed up a few times, well lets say no more !
I have so far only been married four times, this time 9 yrs, so far so good, I am married just a day at a time!!
The Russian/ Israeli lady, well actually the bitch not from hell but much worse, wife No3
She took 90% of my world wide assets after 18 mths
I am such a lucky man, I came to Thailand, 10 yrs ago looking to be picked up, I was, I did choose Hua Hin
Because I thought it was a little more upmarket
I suggest those who are not happy look at themselves
God has looked after me so well, he/she is very busy so we have to help, it is not fair to expect it to happen without our help
I posted this yesterday, when UbonJoe said the government site had been closed down
Well what a positive way to protect against hacking, have nothing to hack
On the same basis all vehicles, trucks, busses, minivans and cars need to be banned,
Then road deaths over the holiday period would be substantially cut
Happy holidays, I will go next week to immigration in the OX cart !
Gentlemen and Ladies
I consider I am fortunate and grateful to be here in Thailand
I have far too many imperfections, if in doubt ask my wife, Thailand also has imperfections
Lets be happy we are fortunate enough to be living here
So far as I understand no one will stop us returning to our original country
God Bless and Happy New Year

Nothing new the entire extranet for guest registration (TM30), 90 day reporting and anything else on it is not working. Been down for some time now.
I think they took it down as defensive measure to keep it from being hacked.

Most of my assets are now in my wife's sole name, (in Singapore) although I manage the investments and have power of attorney and control on a day to day basis until dead
My bank accounts, here and UK,(the UK is joint just in case, but could still get frozen until IOM probate granted) she and a friend have access to internet banking, she is already in the list of authorised payees and have been told to empty them IMMEDIATELY
House in my wife's name
Easy NO PROBATE here or in UK
I also have will in Thai and English, in case I have screwed up
And for the Doom and Gloom merchants, I trust and love my wife, maybe not normal here, but good for me
I paid a few years ago for a pillar in the local temple and she will have me burnt there, and has been told to tell everyone I left her very little so as to keep the vultures away
I have also told her I would be happy for her to find a new husband but insist on 100,000 per month contribution so as to keep the free loaders away, if she stays unmarried she is well provided for
Happy New Year, may we all live long and Happy Lives
I forgot to mention a critical part of the above is my wife has a will and leaves everything to me, just in case she got killed on the roads, I know her family would try and grab everything, and whilst my wife I trust, the rest of her family NO NO NO, she has also been advised to say the same thing to her family, sorry he left me with very little
Boiler Room Scammers
in General Topics
Posted
There are many boiler room scammers based in Asia they are the dregs of the world
They prey on people who are not financially aware, who may well have worked hard all their lives and saved for retirement
They dangle carrots offering better than normal returns, and the poor investor looses all, one of these such may well have been murdered in Pattaya in his red Porsche recently, because he had upset colleagues, (choose your friends carefully
Why am I writing this because I received the following this morning, and I also attach my reply, returns on US dollars guarenteed above 5% only come with risks
Please look after your hard earned savings carefully, a fool or even an unsophisticated financially aware person, can very easily be ripped off
Stay happy and be lucky
