  1. There are clearly couple of people on this website who both are anti-Thai and do not read the sensible and knowlegable posts wirtten by others regarding Retirement Homes. Would strongly recommend you ignore these uninformed zenophobes.
  2. There are more than one retirement home in Thailand. Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui just to name a few and no doubt for those who can be bothered, there are more on the internet.
  3. The same as their Aircraft Carrier which is rotting away at some pier in Thailand. What a waste and the Thai Government knows it but has sucummed to arm twisting from the Chinese.
  4. The article tells you that her Insurance has recently expired. Very unfortunate, but also very negilent considering the accident rate in Thailand, which she may well have been aware of.
  5. Wrong! It was Embassies were not in compliance with checking that the data they provided was correct! Suggest you check your facts first before becoming a keyboard warrior.
  6. I disagree! What we all need to do is to get our individual Consulates to clarify Thailand's intent on taxing overseas income for Foreignors. Sadly, this announcement is typical of the way Thailand operates. Make the announcement without any details having been worked out and any detailed clarification so that people who are affected can both study the change and take any action they consider is appropriate. It would appear that some are considering leaving if this becomes law, which is understandable.
  7. Try HSBC. I bank with them and find them very good - up to now!
  8. My best advice to the Thasksin Clan is - shut up! The more you say, the less the public believes you and the more rediculous you look!
  9. I am sorry to say that I am totally disgusted (as are many Thais) at Thai Politics, which is not a beaurocracy, but an autocracy. Thailand needs to look at what has happened in Niger, where because of the coupe, USA, EU and UK have withdrawn their funding and I feel that exactly the same should happen in Thailand - but of coourse it won't. Why - because the powers that be are worried that Thailand will lean even more to China for support. The only hope is that when the Senator's tenor is over, that the Government revises their right to vote for the PM.
  10. I am currently reading the History of China. There are so many parallels between China and Thailand just before China became Communist. Thailand needs to be very, very careful because the Thai people, like the Chinese became so frustrated at the Governance of the Country, there was revolt after revolt until the Communist took advantage of the constant and ongoing turmoil of the people in Government, the people then decided to take the situation into their own hands. This was from in parts, from a highly edicated and developed Country, which was way ahead of UK and Europe at the time.
  11. The title reads, "Thai Politics strays from democratic principles". Sorry, to stray is to imply that Thai politics was demoncratic - so, so wrong. It has never been demoncratic and as soon as it gets close to it the powers tha be organise a coupe. Thailand politics is an autocracy and an utter disgrace in this modern world.
  12. I understand that anyone in polotics must declare any business interests that they have, which I assume includes those in the upper house. That being so and to avoid defamation charges, all one needs to do is publish on the network, "Senator X owner of Y Company which trades in Z comodities is providing the Country with an outstanding product". I think most people would get the drift of what is being said and why.
  13. If the Senators have been elected on behalf of the people then rightly they should follow the large majority of the will of the people. I they fail to do so, without justification, they are not representing the people and should be removed from the appointment of Senator, in my humble opinion.
  14. If the Senators must stay, there should be an amendment regarding the conduct of their duties. They should not be allowed to abstain from a vote and if they do so, it should be considered that they are guilty of treason and should be charged accordingly. I must admit that Pita is his own worst enemy. He should have ensured that he was whiter than white before becoming an MP. He should have also known that the opposition would use whatever tool is available to him to negate his bid to become PM, which in reality is very fair in the dirty game called politics. A sharp learning curve for the young pretenders!
  15. I would recommend that Thais do not have protests against the EC etc, but go on a National Strike. Buses, Planes, Businesses, Trains, Post Office, Banks et al. The strike should be for at least two weeks to have a major affect on the Hi-so's and their ill-gotten income. If this us properly organised to get majority participation, there is nothing the military or police can do about it, but it would certainly have a huge adverse impact on those who are behind this diabolicl farce. Poor, poor Thailand being manipulated by the very selfish few to the great detriment of the Nation.
  16. Many Landlords in Thailand who rent accommodation also charge electricity seperately, which certainly stops abuse of the use of the facility.
  17. This is not the first time that Koh Samui has run short of water and the local government have been rationing it for quite a long time. This should have been identified many years ago and steps taken to ensure adequate supply. Sadly Thailand is the land of lack of planning.
  18. No mention that one of the primary holiday Island, Koh Samui, is thought to run out of ground water in 30 days and will have to both import and pay for water from the mainland. Why did the Government not realise this and take action a long time ago?
  19. If things go badly and there is another cooup, my question is, will the Thai Public be so accepting, or will there be major riots in the streets because they have had the scent of a proper democracy, instead of an autocracy, with the two leading parties possibly running the Country?
  20. So you were there when he indulged in both meths and canabis and examined him using your extensive medical knowedge? Pity you didn't mention the wonderful effects of psychosis, inflicted on people due to canabis use.
