Your dates are actually 31 days, as every day in country counts, including both arrival and departure dates. If you were to arrive on the 11th Nov, your entry stamp will give permission to remain until 10th Dec.

Whilst you may not get charged for overstay if it it just one day, the bigger issue is that the airline may not allow you to board in the first place without a visa as your return flight is outside of the 30 day visa free period.

Thank you...looks like we had better sort a visa then.

  2. We arrive in Thailand on the 11th November and leave on the 11th December so in my reckoning that’s 30 days dead so in theory we don’t need a visa...if for some reason our flight was delayed even for one day how strict are they...would they just fine you the THB500 per day?

  3. Don't know for Emirates, but use Etihad's chauffeur service.

They wait at the luggage band with your name on a sign, if you provided a Thai mobile number they will try to call you also.

Since biz class bags usually come our first you will be on way soon.

    Guess Emirates does the same.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Just wondering where you have the Etihad chauffeur service to as we flying in with Etihad in November and as we are entitled to there chauffeur service and not sure if we able to use it to Pattaya or how much extra we have to pay to go there.

  4. Has any one been to the Davinci Restaurant in Jomtien yet...when we come to Pattaya we stay at the Royal Cliff and eat there aswell as Cafe Des Amis(our favourite) and Bruno's among others, this new restaurant sounds very nice but sounds a bit expensive in our opinion but dont mind the cost if its exceptional!...would be interested to hear the views of any of you that may have been...

  5. I know a couple of places that call themselves "Chippies" but use frozen chips, one is in a "village" the other on Pratumnak hill

My vote goes to Simons in Jomtien also

Is the one on the Pratumnak hill the new one that was about to open at the end of november when we were there lasr year?

  6. What was the point in this answer if your not going to name the restaurant!!!! i think the op said he will have a car so taxi fare's are not applicable!rolleyes.gif

I have a special place in Jomtien that is always busy with real food lovers. Mostly Thai customers.

Perhaps the best seafood in the area.

I won't bother mentioning the name since it is off the baht but route and the taxis from Pattaya will ream you, 500bt for a one-way trip.

  7. Please let us know if you find a good one as we have been going to Pattaya for 12 years now and havent found a decent seafood restaurant yet...have asked on here like you and the only recomendations are either places like the lobster pot on walking street which is absolutley rubbish and complete sacrilige of seafood or places too far away if like us we dont have a car when we are there!

  8. I can recommend a very good tailor in BKK - used them for over 20 years. PM me if your're interested for details.

But a Tweed jacket? Not sure you'll find Harris Tweed fabric in Thailand. M&S in the UK used to do a very nice range, so might me worth you checking with them, just in case.

Thankyou but we never stay in Bangkok, the tweed jacket i want is for horse riding...there are plenty for sale in the uk but i struggle getting one that fits well so as we come to Pattaya every year in November it makes sense that i get one tailor made for me...i know that tweed fabric is available there as a friend had one done a couple of years ago but in Phuket.

  9. Can anyone recomend a good tailor in pattaya for making a tweed hacking jacket? i know there are lots of tailors there and although never tried one in pattaya i have used one in phuket a few years ago and wasent overly impressed!

also on third road just past the village estate

    antique car in frontage

That's Kalae. Mostly furniture or larger household items. Not many things you'd want to lug around with you if you're travelling, but they do have some nice things and it's always worth a visit. They'll let you wander about on both floors on your own without some sales person clinging to you. You can check out some examples of what's available here: http://www.kalaepattaya.com/index.htm

But be aware they sell both "antiques" and "reproductions." They are labeled as such, but do ask if you're uncertain. Prices are somewhat negotiable and they will deliver larger items if you stay in Pattaya.

If you're traveling around Thailand, you'll find a greater of variety of things in Bangkok. A reliable dealer at River City can be found here http://www.antiquetica.com/ , prices there are negotiable. One of the family of owners of several shops is on the Board of the South East Asian Ceramics Museum at Bangkok University and quite knowledgeable.

... and there is also a monthly auction at River City : http://www.riversideauctionhouse.co.th/

If you're into ceramics. this also is worth exploring. The owner is also quite knowledgeable, pleasant to deal with and his prices are negotiable. http://www.trocadero.com/copperred/

If you're looking for cheaper prices or souvenirs that may or may not be authenticated antiques, Chiang Mai is probably a better bet.

Either Bangkok or CM are far better hunting grounds than Pattaya, although if you do some exploring you may get lucky.

Thanks for the link to Kalae as tried to find it on google earth but with no luck but will certainly go and have a look around there!
