Soooo many blaming the British Embassy.  Thailand told said B.E that they can no longer just provide a letter saying "Mr Expat says he has income of .... and has provided letters etc"

But it has to now to investigate every single income quoted ... investments/pension/property income and certify it as genuine. B.E says it cant and wont.

Logical to me. They would need a small army of investigators. And it would cost big bucks. But hey ho .. been said many times on here and posters still saying its the embassys fault.

But Immi can accept a signed declaration from other nations expats that , in my opinion, is open to bigger abuse by those that choose to abuse the priviledge.

    Dont seem fair to me.......

  2. Well I have just been on the Uk BKK embassy site.

It appears that from 1/1/2019 no more proof of income letters will be issued.

It states that you will need 800,000 baht seasoned in a Thai bank, or 65,000 income every month.....Now here is the problem for me....

The 65,000 each month should appear in a Thai bank account, is what they say.....

My pensions are payable into my UK bank accounts, and I access my funds using online banking with a UK credit card....

It would seem that I am up the creek without a paddle.

Going to do a 90 day tomorrow .....so will ask staff at Immigration, not expecting any news from them, but will ask anyway.

I reckon that this this thread could be a runner....

The main think I check, if the rooms have individual AC units, is whether the filters have been cleaned, mostly I've found they haven't.  Often clogged with dust and muck.  Blast them out in the shower then re-install.  Some have looked like they've not been cleaned in a year or more.

    You are spot on.

I always check the filters if the aircon seems to be not as efficient as it should.

I reckon 8 out of ten I have looked at all over Thailand are clogged up so badly as to seriously hinder the performance.

And clearly if the filters are dirty it is highly likely no other maintenance has been done since the things were fitted.. .

That link doesn't work for me - not that it matters as there's close to zero chance that I could work out 'PDF autofill' to provide copies of passport and proof of income .

It costs the same as if you go there...52GBP....2400 baht.

If you have access to a scanner, you dont need to use autofill.

There is nothing to autofill on a copy passport page or bank statements anyway.

I found it easier that way...others may not...

Yup - I Did do - I know my post said windows explorer, but I did use Internet Explorer - And every other browser failed getting even any kind of response - at least Internet Explorer did respond, but not with what I wanted to see B+(

    I got that too.

I later found out that I had entered 1 incorrect digit from my arrival form input.

I put that right, then I got accepted and my application was marked "Pending".

That was 2 weeks before my actual due date.

2 weeks passed.....still pending... So I had to go to immi anyway.

    T.I.T..  .hahahaha....

That right, it would be far to much hassle for me to attempt to own a firearm in Thailand. My wife can leave Australia with up to 4 licenced weapons under a Restricted Goods Permit. i was curious what happen upon arrival, obviously the weapons would be declared.

Or may be it would be relevant to ask Does any one actually know the price of weapons or how to obtain a price list?

    Thanks

I did look into the feasibility of my girlfriend owning a pistol maybe 6 years ago now.

I spoke to some police friends and they had a printed list of various firearms available to them, they told me it was fairly easy to arrange through them, as contacts.

From memory these weapons were not cheap.

Pistols and revolvers were available, Ruger, Glock, most common brands were listed, and , as I recall, prices started at around 60,000-70,000 baht, for a pretty basic Eastern European model.

I decided that, due to the cost, I would not take it any further.

Prices have no doubt increased since then. but if you are still considering buying here, a chat with a friendly policeman would be my suggestion.

  7. Here in Kanchanaburi we have a choice of about 3 AEON A.T.M,s all in shopping malls, there is indeed a branch inside of Robinsons.

Up until about 1 month ago, I was able to use all of these machines, to withdraw up to the maximum 20,000 baht, and incur the slightly reduced 150 baht fee.

For the last month, however, all of these machines have refused my attempts at withdrawals. They accept my card take me through to the select amount option, which I enter, then I get, "invalid transaction".

I have tried to take lesser amounts, thinking the limit had been changed, with the same result.

I have a Halifax Clarity credit card (Mastercard) which was issued only a few months ago, and the same card has worked with these ATM,s before.

This card works normally with all other bank ATM,s that I have tried, since being unable to access AEON.

I have E mailed AEON head office and received what appeared a stock reply of  "our ATM,s accept all chipped credit cards"

I have also inquired as to any change of policy in the branch, "Don't know of any" was the reply.

Has anyone else been having similar problems with AEON using debit/credit cards?

  8. I went to my local office yesterday.

My landlord had signed a form given to me by immigration stating that I have rental agreement.

I went to a new office with this form and my passport, which they stamped and tlre off tbe bottom section, then affixed it in my passport.

They told me that this was a one off and next time I reported just show them the form , along with the completed TM 30.

  9. Lived and driven here for eight years.

Drove from kanchanaburi to Prachuap on Friday .

    Very busy roads.

The standard of driving was the worst I have ever seen.

no one was going anywhere fast but still cutting in,tailgateing, the usual madness on a greater scale, I can't tell you how pleased I was to arrive at my destination unscathed...
