It will be like driving on the left, stopping at red and abiding by speed limits. There will be no enforcement and as gk10002000 says above a huge number of people will not have the opportunity to cook and eat at home and will have to purchase food outside. Just imagine a Thai policeman trying to arrest Granny Noi for selling khao lam off the streetside as she has done for 20 years. Mayhem!

There is obviously no low that Thai politicians wont slump to. Lets face it, everyone who is reading this report will believe her, money being the only apparent reason for joining a party with no similarities to the one that's been dissolved. So much for ridding us of the corrupt and bringing military traditions into govt.

but the effort was not centrally organised,
Probably the key phrase. Individuals are being encouraged to target opposition and activists, praising govt at the same time but connections back to the organizers will be hard to find. Deniability, ensuring top generals dont have their names on written orders. 'Encouragement' will have been given over drinks, on the golf course and passed down to lesser ranks that are disposable. Lets face it the military are probably not capable of any central organisation. As usual its Reuters doing the digging, Thai media being either too scared or too involved to be active.

Yet another fault of this present constitution. The citizens who voted for FFP probably had the chance and DIDN"T choose Bhumjaithai. To allow MP's to move over to another party just so they can keep their seats in parliament is outrageous. New elections should be called in all cases when a party is annulled letting the voters make their own choices as to who speaks for them.

Several of Thailands driving habits in one video. Look in the mirror, indicate, stop when involved in a crash? And a open truck carrying workers because a bus with seats and belts would cost too much. He should have braked and driven straight in the back of her without swerving. How come the govt and the LTD never understood what untrained drivers could accomplish.

We have decided they are worse than us which makes us honest, decent and incorruptible. All this from a man whose academic qualifications were obtained in the U.S.

For 40 years you let everyone who applies have a driving license, the roads fill up and suddenly you have busy highways with the same skills as they had when they 'borrowed' their parents m'bike at 12 years old. Of course there's carnage.

I chose Chiang Mai as a place to live 32 years ago when it was little more than a big country village with no major highways and little traffic. Todays city is almost unrecognisable in size and content. The transformation has taken place in an unplanned and unregulated rush of a type unknown to most western countries. Massive amounts of construction, the movement of sand, soil and cement in uncontrolled ways, the introduction of highways always under 'improvement' meaning the cars are disturbing dust at all times, and all in a valley surrounded by hills. You cant add a million cars, thousands of houses, hundreds of condo's and shopping venues in 30 years without making a mess, which is of course exactly what we have.

The man who has turned the Presidency and politics into a reality TV show. Sex, power, hero's and villains and no proper accountability beyond what the TV host allows. Welcome to the new world where tweets have taken the place of serious commentary and the Joker as yet has met no Batman.

An unprofessional institution whose members have so little to do they look for work on the outside. A total restructuring reducing the numbers of officers commensurate with a country the size of Thailand and taking into account ASEAN'S political situation is the proper way to go. Which of course will never get done.

Sounds very optimistic in my opinion. Tourism is Thailands backbone and disease, pollution, dust and drought could do much more than set it back a little. A severe crash is not beyond the imagination.

The good work of the framers of the US constitution has all been unraveled by the extreme bias and lack of ethics of modern politicians. They will put up with all and anything because 'its my team'.

I have twice travelled through Iran, once when I drove an empty bus that was needed for tour work in India and once with a group on public transport. The citizens were not at all in the image of their leaders. They were un-informed or ill-informed and didn't have much idea of what was happening in other countries. I'm sure i-phones and social media have changed things but they are probably still not taught to contest political opinion. I was asked several times 'why dont foreigners come here any more'. They were not at all aggressive to us as tourists.

Which is fine as long as its not the public who pay the wage bills. Flying in and out to meetings, surely not in economy class, tickets courtesy of who? The team are performing horribly and in danger of relegation to the minor leagues.

Its not really a trial. From legal-dictionary; "The chief purpose of a trial is to secure fair and impartial administration of justice between the parties to the action". There is nothing 'impartial' about a senate full of politicians who are expected to toe the party line.

Most of us grow up and start the decision making process for ourselves at around the 20 year old mark. It seems the royals need longer, perhaps never managing it, leaving them listening to great grandma till she finally expires. Lets hope they can get a job and fund their own lives like the rest of us had to.

I was an adventure tour leader, walking, kayaking, played tennis, kept very active. Retired and did heavy gardening work keeping my weight down and eating healthy. And still my blood pressure went up. I tried the diet route, low fat, low dairy and lost some weight but never reduced the blood pressure. I had a decent check-up and was told I was in good condition, just take the pills. Some changes in arteries, something like that and nothing you can do about it. Recently at 69 it appears to be on its way down.

Getting into Laos is now possible but not always easy. I think you need a certain sized bike. Its getting from Laos to Vietnam that is a problem, or Thailand to Burma.- 1

Finding a real Mexican cook is unlikely but maybe unnecessary. Thais have been going out into the world for a long time getting jobs in many foreign countries. They come back with skills not usually found here. 30 years ago there was a German restaurant in Chiang Mai with good food but all Thai staff. The cook had learnt in Germany, returned home. I'm looking at answers too, would like some Mex food.

Only 2 weeks ago I was In Chiang Mai Immigration and was surprised by the number of people who looked like they were going to the beach. Its quite a scene up here with many students, teachers and retired in all sorts of dress with dreadlocks, tattoos, multiple piercings and the inevitable cross dressers. The officials here seemed to take it all in good faith.

Sounds like normal behaviour for those PAO and TAO officials. At least he didn't murder the competition, well, not that we know.
