  1. `What we really need to help our own people is someone who generally and sincerely cares for them and is willing to help them. For typical examples are the military nessesaties all the Ships, submarines and now really fast and totally absurd are the so expensive aircraft. We already have fast military war planes in Udon Thani and I often stand and watch them do only circuits around town and think to myself--------- I wonder what that little jaunt around cost  just in fuel never mind the maintenance. Come on you military minded millionairs there are millions of hard working people here that have been ruined through no fault of their own---do something for them to get over this terrible chrisis.Do something sensible and sincere

I have read from several people in other threads, including Ubonjoe, that if your existing paperwork is in order then the amnesty and its expiry do not affect you. So no, you do not have just four days. Neither does anyone else, for that matter. I have been in on the amnesty scheme from its inception, and when its expiry was announced started jumping through hoops to get my visa squared away.

I entered on a no visa required status as a US citizen, so have been without until applying in August. Still without, actually, but local IO says to not worry because my paperwork is submitted and was checked before submission up the line to the apparently overwhelmed authorization department.

So I am one of those "four day" people. I think you are safe to continue on with your existing permission.

Thank you for that Kwaibill,I only hope you're right.

  3. OK I admit I am a bit naive when it comes to this subject, and even after reading of others in trouble I still have problems,so if I make this as easy as I can I would appreciate a

simple answer---- if there is one

Earlier this year I went to my Udon Thani Immigration to renew the extension for my Retirement Visa and during the process an officer told me that the first extension,in my passport was an O and the rest have been OA's (4 of them) in my Passport. Now--- I have been getting my extensions(with no problems) on the 800,000bt in the bank system but now I have to have medical insurance, but for 16,000bt  he could somehow ?? waiver that and I got my extension, but told me I would have to go through the same procedure(hoop) next year. I would be grateful for your comments and your help to get out of this position I am in------I am unable, because of my age to get insurance.

Wannabe expats what are you on? The topic is talking about people! People who are separated from loved ones, their wife children, which is disturbing to say the least. Real expats, I assume you are talking about people such as yourself? Not everyone are as quick witted, as yourself! Not everyone saw this coming for what it is, and the consequences resulting from it. A lot of people have children from previous marriages who they would be concerned about, aging family etc. There are a multitude of reasons why an expat may have delayed travel, in my opinion they are just as real as your perfect self.

Well done PMK--- nice to see there are some sensible people with a bit of compassion

  7. Yesterday I had a terrible experience at the Army Hospital in Udon Thani and I need urgent advice as I am going crazy just sitting here thinking about it.OK--- 4 days ago I went to see Doctor with ear problem. He told me to take certain medication and come back on Monday (yesterday). This where the trouble started.I arrived at the Hospital at 0730 was told to come back at 0900.About 0930 I was shown in to the Doctors office(a different Doctor) and he immediately refused to come near me and I was at first confused but it would appear that he was frightened of this Covid19 problem we have in Thailand and he puts the blame on Farang !!!!!I Started to protest but was escorted out by a couple of nurses and I had to go elsewhere to get my treatment.I have been quietly fuming at home all night and dont know what to do.It has been suggested that i should just forget about it or it will end up me being in more trouble. Is that it ????

I don't understand what you are trying to say.

The visa you used to get the permit to stay you have been extending does not change ever unless you go to an embassy or consulate to apply for the visa.

It is  the same financial requirements for an extension based upon retirement for a non-oa visa or non-o visa entry.

Well mine has changed. My application was the 3rd in my new passport and all on 800,00 method, but this yr I had to pay 16,ooo to get this yrs ret extbecause of some sort of new requirement for a insurance which she did not understand either.I have since been told to just pay and walk out as any big fuss will only make life for me difficult(more) next year

  9. ]\OK heres one for you-----Have been in Thailand 13 yrs and have always had 800000 in bank so no trouble getting visa  however I renewed my passport in 2017 and they gave me OA which I immediately changed back to my 800,000 method so no problems again,Now I just went to get new Visa and was told rules changed and I have to go back to OA again and as I do not have 65,000 going into my bank I had to give him 18,000 and he would give me what I wanted,my visa based on the 800,000.He also said this would happen now every yr for me.I think I have been the victim of a gigantic fraud

Thank you for the best reply. It seems I made a big mistake and was a victim of a scam.

  11. I have been living in Udon Thani for 13 yrs now and have been on a Retirement Visa renewed every year with an extension, but now this yr I have gone to do my extension and told that the new rules are that as I have not got 65000 bt to show as my pension it is not enough and I have to pay 18000 bt for something i do not understand.I have got more than enough in my bank, than the 800,000 required ,so I have never been asked for anything like this before. I have checked everywhere and get the same story,If you have the 800,000bt then the 65,,000 bt does not come into it,but my wife tells me he said it was some sortof insurance??????? to compensate for the shortage in my pension.I was desperate to get my Visa done this week before any more problems with the Virus so I payed but have I been a victim of some sort of scam.If possible I would like to find a way to re-claim that 18,000 back The application was done on the usual TM7 form------- HELP

  12. Hi Guys.Been here 13 yrs in Udon Thani on a retirement Visa.Never had any problems getting  an extension til now. They were happy to give me an extension but I had to give them 18000bt as I was told that was the new rule ?????? It sounded as though even as I have  a hell of a lot more than 800,000,in the bank, but not enough money needed to come in for the year(65000bt).Now I thought this was for a NOn O but I was doing an extension for my Retirement Visa as normal. What do you think has happened.I was told that I will have to pay 18000bt every year from now on.HELP                  I meant to add that my application was on a TM7
