  1. Thanks. When you say I need the bank letter, you mean for the visa application in the US or the extension application while in Thailand, or both? Because the previous poster said the bank letter is only needed for extension and I can initially get the Non-O in the US with only a bank statement as far as financial paperwork goes.
  2. Thanks. What about the "bank letter stating the money has been deposited for not less than 2 months"? Or is that only needed for the extension as well?
  3. I've got my 400K in Thai bank but it still needs to season for 7 more weeks before I can apply for a marriage visa, and I need to go to the US for 2-3 months starting end of this month. Been here as a tourist last 5 months so I'd rather not have to come back so soon on another 30-day visa exempt and need to show my return airline proof of onward transit and then maybe also get an eyebrow raise from IO at Swampy. So my hope was to return to Thailand with a marriage visa from the embassy in New York, but everything I found in an online search is about applying for this visa when the applicant is already in Thailand. For one thing, getting the bank paperwork seems like needs to be done in person on the same day as application. Still I'm wondering if it's possible to apply for a marriage visa through an embassy outside Thailand? Maybe can be done with wife as power of attorney to get the bank paperwork in Thailand then email it over to submit in online application through the embassy? I logged into Thailand's e-visa website and it does appear possible to apply for a Non-Imm O through it, although even with a TR visa that process usually brings unwelcome surprises.
  4. Yup I have the rental agreement and signed house book and ID card from landlady. It's obvious on her ID that she's elderly so I doubt the IO will be bothered about me doing it myself. Re leaving it to last couple days, having extended on TR visas several times in the past I had assumed the requirements were the same for extending on visa-exempt. In all my years in Thailand I've never been asked to show a TM.30 for anything, hoping that luck continues tomorrow. I'll report back here how it goes.
  5. I'll try at Laksi first with no TM.30, read a bit more and several poster said they weren't asked for TM.30 at Laksi if arriving to Thailand by air as I did. If Laksi needs it then not a big deal to pay 800B fine at CW, better than paying that much to a hotel I don't just to get a TM.30. My landlady is a sweet old Thai woman, probably never heard of TM.30 and would probably find it confusing especially using the online portal. Better to not bother her.
  6. Because seems it would be easier to do it myself than get her involved.
  7. I'm in Thailand on a 30-day visa-exempt stamp after doing a border hop to Laos last month (before that I was here on a TR visa + extension). I need to extend once more so I can remain legal here until my booked flight back to the US in mid Feb. Already researched relevant posts here but still have a couple of questions so I know my ducks are in a row... First, I need to apply for the extension at LakSi immigration IT square, correct? (Last time I got the extension at Chaeng Wattana but reading info posted here Dec 2023 that if extending on a visa-exempt stamp rather than a visa, it needs to be done at LakSi.) Second, when extending last time at Chaeng Wattana I was not asked to show TM.30, but recent posts here say it is highly likely required at LakSi. Regarding TM.30, I've never gotten one of these in my life (lived here permanently 2011-22 and been visiting on TR visas last couple years). My wife and I rent a condo in Bangkok and I am listed as tenant on the lease agreement, and we do have copy of landlord's ID card and her house ownership paperwork. So this makes me a "possessor" which should enable me to obtain the TM.30 on my own at Chaeng Wattana, correct? Plan is to scoot up to Chaeng Wattana, get the TM.30 in person, then over to LakSi to apply for the extension. I'll be applying only 2 days before my current stay expires so if anyone sees any holes in this plan, please let me know Any help much appreciated.
  8. Hoping to confirm that I'm correct in what I'm tentatively planning here. I'm here in Thailand on a single-entry TR visa and am currently nearing the end of a 30-day extension. So, planning on going up to Vientiane before my extension expires on Dec 20. Up there, I intend to apply for a new TR visa *or* re-enter Thailand on a 30-day exempt entry. My goal is another 60-90 days in Thailand. And, having recently gotten married, I've only recently heard about the 60-day extension based on marriage and so did not deploy that when extending my current visa last month. My question is, can I deploy that 60-day extension based on marriage on top of the 30-day visa-exempt entry (aka re-entry) that I'm considering? If so, I'll do that. If not, I'll need to try for another 60-day TR visa up in Vientiane. Thanks for any help.
