Thai Airways resolves seating dispute following passenger complaint
cnx355 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Before Thai Smile, Thai Airways operated a few A320 and they all had 8 business class seat. It is quite common to see that in some airlines. It would be simpler to reconfigure the first row up front with those business class seat and business class passengers would be satisfied. -
This older Toyota has 3 row of seats that can accommodate 3 adult per row, so 9 adults plus up front the driver and 2 adults. ( note: the middle seat is small ) So 12 occupant is normal. As children are smaller they often fits 4 in the back rows . So 14 is over the safe limit. Not really safe but it is a fact here.

For this type of documents I always use EMS or DHL. And DHL need a street address not a PO Box. DHL is always quicker for me for shipping document in Canada.

cnx355 replied to scorecard's topic in Chiang Mai
Amorn Electric did repair the microwave in myapartment 4 years ago. They installed a new "magnetron" which is the main part emitting microwave. I looked inside to see it. So I guess those part are available in Bangkok. I do not remember the price but it was not that expensive. -
In Chiangmai I use both without problems. BOLT is cheaper and I prefer Bolt map. with both you can chat with the driver that come to get you. PS I used Grab in the Philippines too and great service .

Anyone using AliExpress in Samui?
cnx355 replied to gearbox's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
I had the same experience with non track-able small items. They all disappear after arrival in Thailand. I had to wait a long time ( more than 60 days ) to be able to request a refund but in the end I got the refunds. Funny that my missing items where also sent to Malaisya and Vuanatu first. No problems with track-able items , so now I order only is taking is available. -

Extension of Non-O (retirement). Passbook-less
cnx355 replied to bg53's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From a good friend experience 4 years ago at Chiangmai Immigration. He had a FCD account in USD at Krungsri Bank ( know as Bank of Ayuthya ). Main branch on Taphae Road. No passbook for FCD account at the Yellow Bank.. He had to speak to a superior officer to inform him aout this bank FCD no passbook. The officer requested a letter from the bank manager attesting to thyme fact that there was no passbook for this FCD account. He finally got his retirement extension. I suggest that you may ask your bank manager to write a letter for you explaining FCD account has no passbook. Or maybe know Chiangmai Immigration is aware that no passbook account exist for some type of account. Good luck -

cnx355 replied to JTXR's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Mine i is usually done the same day but this month it took 3 days. I guess that there are more people at Immigration Office now than before and the officers that process the 90 days online are busier. -

Yes, killed by a drunk SRT employee with criminal record..... and dumped outside the railcard. Now everybody pay for that with lack of proper food and beverage service . It should be SRT that should have to pay the family of the dead girl for all their life. RIP little girl so sad.

And if coming visa exempt, get a throwaway ticket to board your airline if your return flight is 5-6 months later. Have a nice stay. Better than Canadian winter. -
Kids left on school vans: New RTP chief orders a crackdown
cnx355 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Like many countries the bus drivers are required by law to inspect the inside of his bus or minivan before locking the vehicle. A log book should be in the vehicule and must be signed with date and time by the driver. It should be stated in the law that if a child die the driver will be held responsible in criminal court. School should be responsible to hire proper driver with valid driving license or if private owner should be able to check the driver and that the vehicle is in good mechanical order. Sadly when the next child die maybe someone in Government will act on making required laws and regulation. -

90 days report less than 90 days
cnx355 replied to BKKTRAVELER's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I did my last 90 days in Chiangmai I got only up to the end of my retirement extension, about 3 weeks... They told me new rules, the 90 cannot be more than what is left in your extension. I did a new 90 days the day of my extension.... -

You have the link for CM booking system ? Thank you. -
I had the same experience last month in Chiangmai. I was driving in front of a branch I had an account and saw it was boarded and sign removed. I went to another branch and the service people told me where my account was moved. I still keep the same account number of the old branch . The service people were nice and changed my bank book for a new one with the new branch name. I think they have too much branches and with most transaction online they close branches with smaller customers base. I wish they would send email or mail to advise their customer as they have the necessary information .

A friend of mine had this problem in Chiangmai as he had the money in a FCD account at Krungsri Yellow Bank) and there are only statement and no passbook. He had to ask to talk to a supervisor at Immigration and was told to get a letter from the Bank Manager at his Krungdri Bank to explain there was no passbook. He went to the bank and the Manager understood the problem and wrote a letter to Immigration in Thai language to inform them. After many trip back and forward he go his extension. Immigration Officer shouls be informed that not all account have the antiquated passbook now.

Anyone noticed the massive increase in cost of electricity?
cnx355 replied to Bangkok Barry's topic in General Topics
I live in Chiangmai so I noticed my PEA bill was double from the previous month with about the same number of unit. Comparing both bills I noticed that there was a discount line for many mounthy but this time the discount was gone. I guess it was discounted for a while by the gouverment due to the Situation.
