  1. Worked and lived opposite Pantip and saw pretty nasty accidents. Avoid at any cost
  2. Pratunam is pretty dangerous area. This unfortunate couple should learn it somehow. It is like going for a walk at night in Bangkok slums and get robbed. Not a karma but utter carelessness.
  3. 500 thb is very common. I've been fined twice at police station - 500 every time.
  4. cctv equipment is dirt cheap nowadays. Used to be some sort of luxury back in the beginning of this century, yet few funky hotel GM in Pattaya had them installed in rooms. Hidden, I don't know why. Perhaps for profit or personal entertainment? However: it is impossible NOT TO HAVE CCTV in the tourist area shop. It is the very efficient evidence of any sort of shoplifting, damaging goods etc.
  5. >>> also in Hebrew, Malay and Swahili. What if thai "lady" was a former student of Moscow State University's faculty of Russian Literature and she used to read "War and Peace" in original? No limits for imagination indeed. It's getting entertaining )
  6. May I add that generally locals at Phangan (and Samui as well) belong to some tribe called "Sea Gypsy" mixed with jungle people of Deep North. Quite explosive mixture, as my colleague told me - she run travel agency at Samui. She said they are very different from mainland Thais, very superstitious and "uber-thin skin" type. Just accept the point that running papa-mama shop at Phangan requires certain toughness and you can imagine what happened when curious blond wondered into that shop. Obviously that woman dreamed about "shaking" some $ from dumb blond chick. Happens all the time ) PS: Hey, where is CCTV footage?
  7. that thing with removing footwear is really stupid. this is the shop, not your grandma bungalow where she sleeps on the rug, isn't? according to thai law 8 month pregnant should stay at home, not running whatever biz.
  8. in ancient china that was considered as "extension of life". if he is 55 and she is 20 >>> why not?
  9. P2P crypto exchange went wrong. Please, 4 guys from black van and 2 bikers, 112 m.baht ))) "But I only got 1.8 million" he said. Today's BTC price is 2,503,834 on Binance P2P so he "shared" about 0.6BTC or 50,000 USDT. Interesting story, ROFL
  10. I heard that was true about 20+ years ago. Now it is pretty ugly stigma, kinda low-life, as those guys in bar told me in a bar. Not that I'm interesting, don't care. Just curious observation.
  11. the only "common activity with thai friends" is going to driving range and few times a year to 9-holer. nothing other than golf in common anymore. tried everything and failed. even my cat is not from Thailand - you see how sad is it?
  12. Gazans? I thought its about "exterminating Hamas", not about direct shots from Merkava tanks on civilian houses and hospitals. Although heavy armored tanks in one of the densest city is worst than an elephant in china's shop.
  13. there are more than a dozen of military groups in Palestine. Hamas - is just a "movement" has very little "say" over those battalions. Some are older than Oslo's accord, some light equipped - many different, each has its own sources of financing, leaders and methods. Hamas is not some "homogenic" army, it is not even an army. So who does he fight against?
  14. No @xeniv23, the real fun is going to unleash itself a few weeks (months perhaps) later: farang to sue thai woman in Buriram - priceless!
  15. The funny part is that thai lawyer will strip him from last satang. These dumb farangs "ding-dong" up North are instant flow of cash. ROFL, what a dumb @#%!
  16. who would trust those? their parents must be insane or completely @#%ed-up. what a weird mix of jobless foreigners. send them to Southern Tiger for some chill-out. That will re-adjust their perception on Thailand and easy money
  17. Yowarat is a good place to buy, but I think any gold shop has very similar designs and price per weight. Talking about real jewelry is different story - you'll pay premium for work (many works) and finally gold with stones - I mean EmRuSa - most exciting part but you or your Gf won't be able to sell it even with 15% discount.
  18. Visa is not the "entry permit" for the country, and imm. officer at the border will make final decision: IN or NOT. Also, how average lawyer can check the ban list? Go to C.Wattana and ask? Call the hot-line? That is exactly what OP asks - legal way to check ban-list. I think he should begin with proper power of attorney about his properties in TH, not trying to cross the border (which looks like a good idea for me).
  19. Yes, indeed Heard those stories (triple 30) many times from brokers.
  20. quite many think that way. for them Thailand - is a cheap tropical paradise where every female is easily available and every man either gay or katoey. And anyone can go to remote village to buy young and pretty wife for few hundred quids. But I still don't understand what those 2 women were looking for at KSR at 9PM. Food is horrible there as well as expensive. The best place (around that area) is that small shops alongside klong near Yowarat (used to be Saphan Lek). Very cozy, tasty and stylish. But KSR?
  21. Oh! Threats! So many stories about "my friend in power" ))) More than "our village buffalo broke his leg"
  22. @Sydebolle, very sad story. I heard something about this strange behavior, but I thought it related only to Thais abroad.
  23. Is it "Colorful Hat" eatery? Looks like garbage store to me. Who would eat there?
  24. Obviously. If a Tajikki man flew from Phuket and police found dead body in the house he rented doesn't make him primary suspect of murder. btw, the house was locked from inside, wasn't?
