  1. Trying to keep up with the remaining curfew impositions. Need to get to Suvarnabumi from near Icon Siam for a 1:30 am flight mid week. Are there likely to be taxis out and about 2230-2300 hrs willing to do this? Otherwise, would a pre-booked Grab be a better option? thanks, Rs
  2. At least one full year in each of the following: USA Canada Botswana Papua New Guinea Trinidad and Tobago Indonesia Mozambique Zimbabwe Italy DPRK Angola Afghanistan France Thailand 25 more for work of up to six months.
  3. Thanks, Lamyai3. I went to CW this morning and can confirm that the K-bank there is operational.
  4. Anyone know if the Kasikorn Bank at the Govt Complex (Immigration Bldg) is open now? Last time I went - a couple weeks ago - it was closed, requiring a search by taxi of the CW area to find another open K-Bank. thanks
  5. Thanks again for all the helpful comments. Became very clear that: (1) I'm not the only IT-challenged out there; and (2) there's a lot of interest in even the most basic elements of setting up a workable, and relatively affordable, ITV system at home. Rs
  6. Thanks for the several suggestions. A little surprised to see I may be amongst the majority in my confusion. Ref the questions asked by mtis2025: - Not sure of the chromecast versions, though they were bought 4-5 years ago - Pre-paid mobile with AIS - Netflix connected thru the smart TV app. - I occasionally cast from phone to the chromecasts, especially for music (btw, Radio Garden is a terrific site!) - Hv True online fibre, but no other True products. In fact, am beginning to appreciate the complexity of getting an optimal set-up. As for many things, cost against ease ....! Rs
  7. Spoiler: I'm a real novice on this subject. Am in a 2 b/r condo in BKK with 2 TVs, including one smart. Have TRUE inet (that generally works ok) as well as a Netflix subscription, though no analog antenna or digital TV access. Can connect chromecast with each TV. Would like to expand TV viewing options for both TVs to also get some US, UK and European programming, including news and major sporting events (eg. football - both varieties - and major golf), and perhaps additional movie choices. Have seen references to ROKU, PULSE, HULA - as well as firesticks, android boxes, etc, but can't understand what I may need to expand the TV viewing options for both TVs within reasonable cost. Would be grateful for any suggestions in terms of inet provider, additional equipment and content subscriptions. Thanks, Rs
  8. The problem is the total duration of the trip and how it can fit within the current curfew hrs. The bus is supposed to leave the origin point in Phuket at 0500 hrs, with at least one other pick-up point. Bus agents and drivers inform pax that arrival at Suvarnabumi should be about 1900 hrs, which would be fine if the schedule is maintained. However, at least when I travelled, there was a delay in starting, several rest stops of varying duration, as well as extremely heavy rains, all of which meant a late arrival - about 2000 hrs. This makes it very tight to find a passing, and willing, taxi to get back into BKK. One way to help provide some margin would be to allow one stop in/near central BKK, before proceeding all the way to Suvarnabumi. This would make sense as almost no one on the bus wanted to end up at the airport, but rather in BKK proper. Allowing one stop near the centre of BKK would help most pax in terms of convenience and timing.
  9. Just came from Phuket to BKK airport by special "sandbox express". THB 1,500/pax (though depends on total no. travelling that day, and hence size of the vehicle). I believe the company - Andaman Travels - operates at least three times per week. Booking made thru the SHA+ hotel and can only get confirmation 1-2 days before the trip. Departs Phuket about 0500 hrs (though was well late). Took about 14 hours and arrives at Suvarnabumi departure level. Difficult to find taxis after 2000 hrs on arrival. Would only recommend if absolutely essential to make the trip.
  10. Grateful if anyone out there has any info on this . Thanks, RS
  11. What about travel from airport to BKK after curfew? Not arriving by flight but will be dropped off at Suvanabumi between 2100 and 2200 hrs (after completing Phuket sandbox), and need to travel into BKK. Are there likely to be taxis available? Thanks, RS
  12. I guess this is THE question facing a few, myself included. Have another week to go in the "sandbox" then and a Bangkok Airways flight booked to BKK, where I had planned to spend four weeks attending to some personal issues, including follow-on med treatment. IF domestic flights do not resume by then, are there any viable alternatives to get from Phuket to Bangkok? thanks, RS
  13. Am looking at the Thai Embassy in France website and see the following (translated from French): "The journey between Phuket Airport and the SHA + Hotel should be made using the hotel shuttle only.".
