  1. I don't seriously think this is the country for you!
  2. Go to Mr DIY. You will get an adjustable walking stick for under 200 Baht. I presume they still stock them. Had mine for a few years now. Brilliant.

Christmas lunch/dinner Udon Thani. Venues? Suggestions would be appreciated,
  4. Apologies, the lens price was somewhere between three and eight thousand baht. Sorry cannot remember off hand but I have a note somewher.
  5. Udon Thani. I have my eyes checked every three months by the Government Hospital Doctor who has in addition a private practice which I attend. Eighteen months ago he carried out, at his clinic, a cataract operation on my right eye . Cost 25,000 baht. He has been looking after my eyes for a number of years, controlling glaucoma and ensuring consistently good eye pressure and 20/20 distance viewing. I am 84 by the way. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
  6. Mazda CX-5, Toyota Yaris and I also have a two wheel and a three wheel three seater electric bike/scooter.
  7. Sorry for delay in this acknowledgement but thanks again to everybody for their input. Has been a great help and very much appreciated.
  8. Just had a search and it looks like TM87 is applicable?
  9. Thanks to all, I think I have got it thought slightly confused as to what Tm86 and TM87 are? However it appears the best advice to give him is to go to immigration and apply for a non O based on retirement. I must assume funds or income are OK has he has already had an extension. Will talk to him.
  10. Advice please Ubon Joe (et al) on behalf of a fellow Scot, who resides here in Udon Thani, married to a Thai national. He entered Thailand two years ago on an ‘O’ visa based on retirement. Successfully obtained an annual extension this last June. Since then visited Scotland and returned to Thailand using a single re-entry permit. No problem. However just recently, without due thought, went to Vietnam for two days, no re-entry permit, and on the return was given a 45 day entry stamp. What does he do now, what is the procedure for him to resurrect permission to stay on a retirement basis? (I believe he has been quoted circa 30,000 baht by a local agent to sort this out). Many thanks.
  11. I was under the impression that the 800K had to be in my sole name name. I keep it in an SCB savings account. Can I add my wife's name as signatory? Confused.
