  1. For me when living here I did not get suits made as a 42L from Marks and Spencer fitted me well. But when it came to shirts for work, fashion changed so it was difficult to find shirts with top pockets which I wanted and I liked a slightly looser neck (in the days when we had to wear ties) which meant for off the shelf I would have to have a really baggy shirt and also the arm lengths did not quite fit and the cuff was a bit tight with my fitness watch. So buying "made to measure" gave me exactly what I wanted. It was not about cost it was about having something I felt really comfortable wearing and looked very smart. And no I would not have gone to Saville row to get them made there.
  2. If you buy through a company you may then want to consider putting the building freehold in your name and keeping land (as you have to ) in the Thai company. This should stop you having to pay rent to the company and thus reduce tax expense.
  3. Flew out in July and back this week. Masks advised but not required.
  4. If you lose your TM6 stub given back to you when you enter it is no problem on leaving as you just fill that part out again on departure as I did on my last visit. Its a very common issue.
  5. Yes did Bht8m over 4 days as had sold a condo. No paperwork required no questions asked.
  6. I use the Bangkok Bank phone app and the swift option for international transfers. Allows you to transfer Bht2m per day. Yesterday the rate was bht43.63 for GBP. Funds arrive in my UK account the following day. Seems not to follow the exchange control act above.
  7. I really like the Qatar Q suites but you have to check flights carefully as it tends to come and go on some of the Bangkok legs. (as an aside just flew in from London on the new Thai (well newly leased old plane) 777 that now has first class. There are two rows of business just behind first that makes that bit of business a bit more secluded. I thought I may treat myself to an updgrade to first on the way back. The web single fare in first is about Bht117,000. To upgrade from my business class ticket they quoted me Bht133,000!!!. This is obviously quite bizarre. Sent emails about this to three different Thai email addresses - waiting to see if they will respond).
  8. I use the service daily with no issues unless it is 11pm - 6am Thailand time when certain services are restricted.
  9. The UK NHS certicate that you download for travel only lasts about 5 weeks. But on any day you can download a new one or just show on your phone with a 5 week expiry.
  10. I am from UK and just submit for two shots of Astra Zeneca and always get a pass. Process seems to be getting faster as applied at 2pm May 7th and got the pass at 5am 8th May.
  11. I have been in and out from UK a few times via Qatar and as per above UK was country of departure and used flight number from Qatar with no problems.
  12. Just to note that it is only the labour that is cheap. The import duties on material make it more expensive than many other countries. If you are on a short trip best to tell them you are leaving a day or two before you really are so extra time for adjustments to be made. I always used to buy my suits in M&S as I was standard size but had shirts made in Bkk though the shop I used has now closed.
  13. If you have a UK passport you need to leave a space after the last digit. That got rid of the API error for me and allowed my submission. My confirmation of receipt email took a few hours to come through.
  14. That is not the covid red list that is the general Foreign Office travel advice list. If you read the post from the Foriegn Office they say they are going to remove the covid situation from their travel advice list and futher updates will be made this week. This list affects your ability to get travel insurance to the countries on the list. The Department of Transport issues the Red list.
