  1. Discussed frequently. X posters, x opinions. To me: they are obliged to check/copy passport for foreigners. Some take it easy some don't . Hotels that I stay even searching for the admitted until/extension stamp. I would never go on an remote/overnight trip without passport. More reasons for that.
  2. I can print the copy button on my laser printer and get worse results than scan/print. If they desire so they can have. Don't forget that as far as I know you need to show the original document for every copy that you supply. You sign every copy as saying it's correct / unaltered. As if that is not enough... Paranoid harassment
  3. Guess he "damaged" the rent scooter. Look here! Look here! Paid in full for a new one, no problem.
  4. 13,14,15: regular Songkran days as usual 12: extra holiday be government decision 16: substitute day as usual by the rules.
  5. I guess it has been discussed and stated a hundred times here: official public holidays 12 to 16. Effectively meaning that for three non-weekend days (12, 15 and 16) immigration offices and bank main branches are closed. Visa agencies etc. up to them. April 12 was announced in February as an extra holiday and indeed some confusion as calendars not been updated (e.g. at our immigration website).
  6. ? Wonder whether this would retire my laser printer/scanner? How exactly do they distinguish? Only accepting copies made at the office to earn a few Baht or what?
  7. At the moment can't even tell what the situation with Kasikorn is. I don't move higher amounts there. I was never pointed to facial. Just that I was photographed on some visit in 2023.
  8. No penalty up to one year after expiry. After one year: theory/multiple choice test. After three years: start from scratch like new license. No, three months ahead for the 5yr license. But in your case not useful.
  9. Yes. A egg head frame appears where center your head to and then do some grimace/eye blink. (not even sure about the grimace from last occurrence)
  10. Yes, SCB doesn't. Took three visits to finally get the correct message and instead a somewhat complicated procedure on the phone to Bangkok hotline to get a waiver (assisted at the branch, they don't even have it completely in English). I can now set transfer limits in the app as desired.
  11. Except when there is unwanted competition (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Russian, Kazakhstan, Caribbean, African (Madagascar) etc.).
  12. No worries with "Fixed Deposit" from Bangkok Bank at Khon Kaen immigration since 11 years. And I can't remember anyone reporting problems at other immigration offices.
  13. It's about the account type. The balance shown must be available for full withdraw at any time (no penalty). Some account types with higher interest might not fulfill this condition. The usual "Fixed Deposit" on the other hand does. I am not aware of any Thai banks not allowed. (all banks in the country are registered under Thai law whatever foreign name they might have. Which bank you choose is more of a practical decision depending on how experienced banks are in handling foreigners.
  14. A theory behind: many of the staff going home to visit the family. Come back and fully staffed party starts. True or not?
  15. One for the list. Why waste time.
  16. Zoom and zoom and zoom... Will they ever go after the pervert peepers?
  17. Forget it. It's a PR stunt by tourism organization. Nothing offical/governmental. Claiming Songkran national/world cultural heritage bla bla. There might be local events or whatever. But even Thailand can not afford to go on national holiday for three weeks. I read here some days ago that a lone Chinese got the wrong message and stood with his water cannon waiting for the party to start
  18. You can bet that Friday the 12th will be wet. All in "holiday mood" already. A bar manager in Soi 7 threatens with the 11th. Remember: the 12th has been declared an extra public holiday. So expect absolute traffic gridlock to start on late April 11th with the influx from Bangkok. I don't know how you can create more than the existing daily traffic chaos but there must be a way. Came back from 10 days in Pattaya on March 27th. Had my car on the hotel parking untouched until departure.
  19. See the other eye opener: https://aseannow.com/topic/1324373-one-of-the-most-epic-crash-videos-ive-seen-so-far
  20. Exactly. It's motorway 9, km 60. What has the f...ing lorry to do on the right lane of four!
  21. A taxi driver that does not know Windmill resort/hotel should find another job! Really not rocket science. Drive towards Naklua (through the roundabout if you come from 2nd rd or north Pattaya rd.) and then up north on Naklua rd. Yes it's as far from Jomtien as can be
  22. An he must be well known to many in the US. He is one of the "EGOT" (19 people in total). Has won at least one: Emmy Grammy Oscar Tony Award
  23. Yes getting old. For some strange reason I read about the couple a few days ago. Before? The wife has only 42.6 million Instagram followers. Close to nothing. I have 6.
  24. Indeed. And it proofs that van travel can be made as safe as can be and it helps nothing without draconic measures on road safety. Never would I drive on a motorway at 1:30 AM if not life critical.
