Background check fingerprints outside of Thailand? (Laos)

Hello,

I recently moved from Thailand to Vientiane Laos. I need to get a Thai police clearance. I've read that I can mail in documents along with fingerprint and they will mail it out but I'm not sure where I can/should get fingerprinted in Laos.

Do I need to go to that consulate, my embassy, or elsewhere?

You need to go to the local police who will fingerprint you on a standard form and sign off on it.  Probably you will have to go to a major police station / HQ to get the fingerprinting done.  The copy of your fingerprints is submitted to special branch of the Thai police in Thailand along with the application form, passport copy etc.

 

If my experience is anything to go by, the whole process can be quite slow so I hope you're not in a hurry!
