webfact
Video: Did policeman in red plate car shoot at man forcing him off the road? Picture: Thai Rath A road rage incident in Ratchaburi looks set to dominate the headlines this week. A video was posted on Social Hunter yesterday that featured a man complaining that he had been shot at in a road rage incident. Picture: Thai Rath Comment was rife online that the shooter was a sergeant in the police. A gun was allegedly found in his car along with a lot of beer. The video showed the pick-up driver complaining that he was chased by the other vehicle involved in the accident at the Don Sai intersection. A black Ford Everest with the red plate ต (tor) 5555 had its front smashed in. The unnamed man claimed he was fleeing for his life. His pick-up ended up in the roadside undergrowth. Thai Rath said they were trying to ascertain the details of the incident but quoted witnesses as saying there had been a barging match between the two vehicles along the highway. They both arrived at speed at the intersection and there were several injuries. It could not be confirmed yet if the driver of the Ford was a cop, they said. DLang
What happened a few decades ago with buffalo, carts, and machetes, now happens on the roads with pick-ups and guns. Don't disrespect their culture.

mark01
Lock 'em both up. Isn't it about time something was "really" done to stop Thai road incidents. On a side note, if I carried a gun while cycling, I would have used it more than once!

decca60
in my country of origin I cannot imagine a police sergeant can afford offering himself a brand new EVEREST out of his not too bad salary... But of course I am not in my country of origin....

Ossy
What better can we expect on roads that have now become a free-for-all? Pity Thai Rath couldn't get a better news clip . . . it was pretty amateurish, with so many essential points left unclear.

RichardColeman
I think the big questions here are not answered - did he pay the new price for the beer or the old ? And how did he manage to balance the beer on the car ? The rest of the story is just average day in Thailand and it's idiot drivers and needs no comment. I take back all I've said about Thai drivers . . . except those that are drunk, irresponsible, unable to turn right off a 2-way road, unable to spot an overtaking opportunity, unable to see the wisdom of keeping to the left, except when U-turning and overtaking, unable to reverse, unable to see through that clutter of lucky charms hanging from the mirror, and pretty well incapable of driving,. Give them 5 minutes in a UK driving test simulator and the examiner would stop the car and leg it. Give them 50 attempts and they'd fail and for one simple reason. In Thailand, YOU NEVER SEE PROFESSIONAL TUITION, or any tuition for that matter; the existing driving test is an utter joke and the powers that be wonder why Thai driving is mostly to such a terrible standard.
