School Advice or Opinion

We are moving to Khon Kaen soon from Phuket. We have a 12 year old boy.

We want him to learn Thai, English and Chinese. We can't afford an expensive private school.

We were told that the following school is perfect for the above. Please let me know if you have any experience or opinions on this school.

Huakiew Withayolai School

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know as well.

Thank you in advance.

I can only write concerning my own experience in Buriram. The Hua Kiao school in Buriram is considered to be a step above the best state school here, which is quite good in itself.

English: the English English teacher seems quite capable but he still has to fight against 'the way we do things here' thing, fought for two years to get a stupid and obvious mistake in the text books changed.

Chinese: our kid can read and write Chinese, but doesn't understand spoken Chinese although they all learn a few songs by rote.

No knowledge of geography or civil law is taught.

These, along with a few other things, are par for the course in Thailand.

I think we pay about ฿9000 a year + 1200 for Saturday school.

It's OK, but I do a fair bit of homeschooling with her, and will be looking at more expensive options later on, including a stay in the UK.
