BANGKOK, 5 October 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce has warned that any store found to be in violation of the state welfare card’s conditions will be immediately removed from the Pracharat Blue Flag Shop project.

Deputy Minister of Commerce Sonthirat Sonthijirawong said he had received reports of some Pracharat Blue Flag stores in Maha Sarakham allowing the welfare cardholders to redeem the cards for cash, which was not how the government intended to help people reduce the cost of living.

Mr Sonthirat said the cards cannot be exchanged for cash under any circumstances. Any retail store in violation of this regulation will be dismissed from the list of Pracharat Blue Flag stores.

Cardholders found in violation of this rule will be considered by the Comptroller General’s Department if their rights to the cards should be revoked.
