webfact Posted October 5, 2017 Share Posted October 5, 2017 One killed, 10 injured in Chon Buri crash By The Nation One person was killed and 10 others injured on Thursday morning when a pickup truck was slightly hit by an 18-wheel truck, sending it across the road island only to be hit by a company's employee van, police said. The accident happened at 6.30am on the Pattaya-bound bypass road in Chon Buri province’s Muang district. A man sitting beside the driver of the employee van of Shinpack (Thailand) Co Ltd was killed. The van driver, Ekkarat Chaemchote, 21, and eight other employees of the firm were injured, four of them seriously. The pickup driver, Noorat Radakorn, 50, suffered from chest pain. She appeared to be in shock and could not recount details of the accident to police. Witnesses told police they saw an 18-wheel truck slightly hit the back of the pickup and flee the scene. The pickup strayed across the road island and got hit by the van in the middle. The van then flipped on its side. NanLaew Posted October 5, 2017 Share Posted October 5, 2017 This common aspect of vehicles crossing the central median and taking out vehicles of all sorts coming from the opposite direction is really beginning to bother me. Time for armco barriers down the middle and forget about placing it on the bends. I have yet to see any dented or destroyed armco on any bends in all my driving in LOS but seen plenty of vehicles in the ditch in between the lanes. If a truck crossed the median in a western country just once, it would be news for weeks, but here it makes a brief appearance then 5 minutes later it's simply business as usual...
