Nemises
Can anyone recommend a Dr for skin cancer checks? I’m presently based near Khon Kaen, however Dr’s location is not important as I travel often throughout LoS.

Hi, there's a few Issanders who travel to Bangkok Pattaya hospital 6 monthly. To start with they are dermatologists; good examination, and recommendations. You can talk to them and they listen.Melanomas are probably no fun, so it's great to go to good place.Sheryl says the Aussie trained Dr there is very good. Think it's Dr Anne.Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk

Sheryl
There are very, very few doctors with expertise in skin cancer in Thailand, since it is so rare in Thais. The only doctor I can fully recommend for this -- and she is excellent -- is Dr. Anna Jaruwarn at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. She trained in the US and practiced there for most of her career. https://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/doctor-profile?v_id=7&depid=

Nemises
Fantastic! Many thanks for these advices. I’ll be pursuing. (Am actually surprised there are so few sun cancer specialists in Thailand given the high number of older, white skinned expats from hot climates who were often sunburnt in their childhood). Thanks again. Thanks again. The Cancer Hospital in Chonburi does a package that includes bloods, urine, stool, X ray, ECG and physical exam which when I went a couple of years ago was 1600 baht. The biopsy which fortunately had a positive result cost 1800 Baht.

Thanks again. But as a percentage of patients that number would be very low so difficult to gain expertise as they would be spread around among the thousands of dermatologists who are mainly concerned with beauty issues. I know of at least two major hospitals here in Bangkok that do not have access to basic liquid nitrogen for skin treatment.
AliasJohn
I am a regular visitor to Saint Louis Hospital in Sathon. There last week in fact. I see Doctor Somboon who is trained to find any BCC or any other little nasty that crops up. As an example I had about 15 keratousas burnt of with liquid nitrogen and a suspected melanoma cut out on my leg which required 5 stitches. I received a email yesterday stating all is good after lab report and the bill was 5500 baht. I have been seeing Doctor Somboon about 5 years and highly recommend him. What ever you do don't let your local guy in KK try and do it. He will do the old style and cut way to much out .Good luck.Sent from my SM-G930F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
