PATTAYA: -- Attendees at a seminar to discuss the proposed bullet train link from Bangkok to Rayong were wowed by the possibilities.

The sleek train in our picture is whizzing at high speed along the beautiful coastline - destination Pattaya!

The artist's impression of the future was viewed as 200 interested parties met at the Asia Hotel with Banglamung district chief Naris Niramaiwong as president.

The proposed train will run from Don Muang airport and connect with Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports.

There will be an overground station at Don Muang while those at the other two airports will be underground.

Some sections of the dual 1.435 meter standard guage track will be elevated, some underground, reported Chonburi Index.

The project is anticipated to cost 200,000 million baht.

The other stations are - Bang Sue, Makkasan, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Sri Racha, Pattaya and finally Rayong.

200.000 million barts is quoted .! Do they mean 2 billion which in itself is not a huge money for projects of this scale .. Only t'other day some S P C G talking head was coo'ing that controversial fossil fuel powerstations will no longer be needed .. where is the big electricity coming from to power these things .. Most European systems operate around 25kv which is not pratically attainable with green energy ..

NINE stations in what, 150 kilometers? Hardly enough time to speed up before it has to slow down again.

True 7 stations in 180km approximately 25 km apart catapult and net time. So many issues that this cannot happen. One is obviously speeding up and slowing down in such a short distance. Then there curve radius of 7km mimimum and a rate change of 1-5000 making a transition into the curve of 150mm cant 7.5km either side of the curve so full curve length 15km long. One of the several issues with the bull shit BKK Pattaya "High Speed"
