webfact Posted October 20, 2017 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Upper Thailand warned of thunderstorms, sharp temperature drop By The Nation The Meteorological Department on Friday warned residents of the North and Northeast to brace themselves for fast-changing weather conditions, including heavy rains, thunderstorms and a sharp drop in temperature from Saturday to Thursday. In its warning issued at 5am, the department said variable weather conditions during the period would be caused by a strong high pressure system from China extending into the hot and humid upper regions of Thailand. For the first-three days, variable weather conditions will be likely with thundershowers and gusty winds, as well as heavy rains. The department said a decrease in temperature by 2-5 degrees Celsius degree are also expected for the Northeast and other parts of the country. Affected areas are as followings: October 21-22: Northeast in Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Loei, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram and Surin. October 22-23: North in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphu, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phare, Uttardit Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Sukhuthai and Kamphaeng Phet. East in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sakaeo, Chachoengsao and Chonburi. Central in Nakhonsawan, Lopburi, Sara Buri, Pra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Sing Buri, Ang Tong, Chai Nat, Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pratom, Samut Songkram including Bangkok and its vicinity. Rainy season has never ended until Loy Kratong in mid-November. Most years it rains right up until the day, then abruptly stops. Strange but true. That has been my experience always, now the last 2 days not a drip of rain and blue skies (with some clouds). I have often thought that the rain stops earlier here. As for the 2011 comparison of some.. in 2011 I was flooded before this time and other places near me were flooded long before. This did not happen so I don't see this happening this year.
