He was a veteran verified by a lot of his old comrades, they even started fundraising until the real truth was reposted on the regimental forum.

I’d like to know which regiment, please.

He wasn't part of 2nd airborne by any chance. Perhaps he thought he was still in the falklands ?

The posts have now been taken down now. without fully naming the regiment to save them any embarrassment, lets just say they are good at fixing land rovers and other bits of kit.

Hope this helps and please you should now  know the name but don't repost it.

Had a good laugh about this, a friend of Mik and Denise by the name of James Crowe is claiming that it is all lies from the Thai police and that the CCTV is false. Can these people not accept that this pair are nothing but scamming crooks or are all the people from that village the same?

James Crowe You are so wrong people like you like to comment on things you know nothing about the money has been returned it's been a cover up with false cctv footage and Mik did not jump off any balcony there is so many lies from the Thai police to protect there corruption did you know that in phuket just this year there has been 35 so called balcony incidents well that's what the Thai police have logged them as just like mik and his injuries are consistent with being struck not jumping and that is by a Thai hospital in there records and recorded by a British hospital as the same as well so please before slagging people off get the facts correct this is only a very tiny portion of what has really happened

his injuries are consistent with being struck not jumping you say.

We are talking about leg injuries, right, so presumably you mean struck by a car?

A lot depends on how he landed after he jumped, he could have landed on his side with his leg hitting a concrete curb which would give the broken bones the appearance of being struck from the side but one thing for sure is that the breaks were not done by the supposed muggers hand gun. It is funny that the only evidence is a CCTV footage of him trying to enter hotel rooms and climbing over the balcony. Maybe his friend James Crowe who seems to have all the answers would like to explain exactly what happened instead of calling the Royal Thai Police liars.

Was wondering why this story sounded iffy....

There were far too many injuries for a mugging.

Yes.  Some of us commented that it seemed strange injuries for a mugging.  But I never even  thought he would have jumped to get the injuries.  Oh WOW!!!!  Must have been desperate to get the money.  Oh Wow again!!!

But why did he jump on the first night of their holiday ?

Did he suddenly decide he didnt want to be there with his wife and didn't think it through before jumping ? Turning 50 aint that bad. :burp:

Maybe you read the entire story ... not even their hotel ... checking for unlocked doors ... perhaps disturbed and escaped by jumping ... maybe ... maybe
