Timbob
Is there such thing as a temporary border visa for Myanmar? I'm thinking of doing a visa run from Ranong to Kawthaung. My understanding is that I need to pay $50 for a tourist visa. However, my girlfriend says we can get a temporary border pass, instead. I cannot find any (recent) information about this. Does anyone know the current situation? Thanks.

It's in Thai and I don't know whether it's accurate. My hunch is that it's not.
DILLIGAD
I don’t know, but me too. There were some borders near to my locality where they allowed Thais to cross the border temporarily if they leave their ID cards with the Immigration people. I believe this has now stopped (although the Casino’s are still full!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Timbob
But the thing that makes me think it might be a reality.... is because a lot of people do visa runs from Phuket. I can't believe they all pay $50 for a visa, on top of other fees. For just a little bit more I can book a return flight to KL - which is what I'm inclined to do. But if we don't have to pay a combined $100 then it's an option, since it'd be a nice drive up from Phuket.
