Pity the UK police force(s) looking for him can't catch him before he flees the UK. Pity the UKBF don't bother with exit checks on passports. Relying on checking air line passenger lists doesn't seem to stop the fugitives from leaving as plenty seem to get caught overseas. And, we assume that he entered Thailand on a visa waiver 30 days? If so, was his passport flagged up as wanted by the UK? Had the UK done anything to alert other countries?

reallybigken
RIP !! Loss of life at such a young age. They should throw the book at him. I not concerned about his excuses. He obviously has issues. Even if he was doing it on the balcony .... you take the risk you pay the price. And in this case a young lady lost her life. Best wishes to her family. Mattd
Unfortunately UK does not share any criminal record information with Thailand on a routine basis, so with anybody turning up on a British passport entering Thailand on a tourist visa or visa exemption, immigration would have no idea of any past crimes, no matter how bad they are, the only way that this could happen is if the UK had placed a Interpol notice on a person. As far as I am aware, the only visas that requires a criminal record check prior to issuing are the O-A or O-X visas.

mstevens
Drug issues, a conviction for rape of a teenager followed by a prison sentence, mental health issues and only 25, this guy hadn't made a one off mistake but had the sort of history that makes him high-risk. I wouldn't want people like this moving to my country just as I am sure most Thais wouldn't want foreigners with this sort of profile in their country. And then he goes on to overstay his visa, not be a day or two but a period of time that shows his blatant disregard for the law. If I said what I'd like to see happen to this guy given what he did to that poor girl my account on this forum would surely be terminated. May the poor lady rest in peace, and may this sack of turd rot in hell.

Cases like this make me really want to see Thailand look in to people's backgrounds when it comes to visa applications. - And the law does say that in the case of anyone who has been sentence to 12 months or more in Thailand is not allowed to enter Thailand (but of course they don't ask about this, let alone actually check or require a police clearance cert.) Plenty of countries require visa applicants to provide a police clearance certificate when applying for anything beyond a short-term visa and convictions or jail-time can - especially in the case of a sentence of a year or more - help to keep out people like this fellow. tryasimight
Looks like he's had a hard life if he is only 25 (if in fact it is his real passport). On overstay as some posters report. Took her phones. Ran away. I hope the cops look a lot closer into his background as he doesn't sound like a lad fresh off the boat who had a tragic incident. Perhaps something more sinister going on. My post from yesterdays thread. Seems I wasn't too wide of the mark.

Considering that he took her phone AND KEPT IT shows an enormous degree of stupidity/ insanity. Also with him being on an overstay and theft of phones , suggests that he didnt have any money. Maybe his intentions were to rob and rape her ? He woke up early , tried to leave the room without paying her and took her phone , she woke up and objected and he pushed her away onto the balcony with such force that she went over , he then continued with his escape

RIP to the girl, this guy is toast now and probably not for the reasons he should be. A sad case all round Stop right there, because your attempt to offer sympathy for the accused is unfounded. The man is a convicted violent offender with an outstanding controlled drug warrant. As a criminal fugitive, he lost his right to privacy. Your claim that "maybe he was aware of the local cops reputation etc" is a pathetic insult to peoples' intelligence. How about the man was aware that as a convicted violent offender with an outstanding criminal warrant he was subject to immediate arrest and deportation? The perhaps might also apply to the circumstances under which the woman met her violent death, as in perhaps he knew he had gone too far, once again? The use of the dismissive expression " sounds like a case of drunken naughtiness" might be acceptable to those with an absence of respect for women and who are in the Pattaya area to engage in depraved acts of debauchery, but it is a pathetic, feeble excuse for a repeat violent offence. The woman was moved off the balcony and then left to suffer an agonizing painful death alone, in an act the law calls a depraved act of indifference by this previously convicted violent rapist. The offender has already demonstrated that he is a violent offender as he beat up a young women and then savagely raped her. Stop making excuses.
