webfact
Fed up with theft owner has 14 padlocks on his Nakon Sawan shop front Picture: Sanook A hardware shop owner in Nakon Sawan is so fed up with repeated thefts that he had bolted his shop with chains and 14 padlocks. In fact it takes ten minutes for him just to get through his own door. In addition there is a sign warning thieves that the premises are guarded from within and there is CCTV too. Sanook reporters went to the shop in the downtown area of the city 300 kilometers from Bangkok after netizens wondered what might have led to such "Fort Knox" style security after pictures were posted online. They found a stream of curious people walking past all of whom looked in amazement at the padlocks. Soon the owner Iam, 55, came by to open up - and it took him ten minutes to do so. He said that he had been targeted so many times. He suspected a former employee who had copied keys but he wasn't sure. He said that he invested thousands of baht in the best quality locks but still they came back to thieve from him. Now this was the only way to protect his nuts and bolts and equipment. geriatrickid
In a country where people are shot over the most insignificant of issues, I am surprised that this chap didn't camp out inside with a shotgun and some saltpeter, or a supercharged taser. Not that it matters. I wonder exactly where the shop is, you do not hear of many break-ins here so the ex-employee theory looks favourite.
