Popular cat cafe in Chiang Mai to close in April

By The Nation

The owner of a popular cat cafe in Chiang Mai has urged cat lovers to visit before the venue closes in early April.

Thatsaran Wisutthimak, the owner of Because of Cats cafe, said she will be closing on April 6 because the leasing contract will expire.

She said she opened last April because of her love for cats. She owns a cat breeding operation and wanted to share the cuddly pets with other cat lovers, said Thatsaran.

The cafe is located at the exit of Tops Supermaket on the ground floor of Central Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai’s Mueang district.

I guess the owners of those Pussy cats did not do enuff business, to keep the rent paid.

Or the rent was jacked up - a common practice when Thai landlords see a tenant that's got a successful business.

It is not the only one in the city. Normally I stay with family near Wat Phrathat Doi Tham and just walk to the temple to play with the cats and dogs there. Instead of ordering coffee with cake I donate a 10 kg bag of cat food.
