webfact
Popular cat cafe in Chiang Mai to close in April By The Nation The owner of a popular cat cafe in Chiang Mai has urged cat lovers to visit before the venue closes in early April. Thatsaran Wisutthimak, the owner of Because of Cats cafe, said she will be closing on April 6 because the leasing contract will expire. She said she opened last April because of her love for cats. She owns a cat breeding operation and wanted to share the cuddly pets with other cat lovers, said Thatsaran. The cafe is located at the exit of Tops Supermaket on the ground floor of Central Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai’s Mueang district. Thailand
That cost of that lease must be enormous now, no business stays there very long. Dog lovers ourselves but seemed like a pleasant little corner for something a little different.
Stargeezr
I guess the owners of those Pussy cats did not do enuff business, to keep the rent paid.

Or the rent was jacked up - a common practice when Thai landlords see a tenant that's got a successful business.
Paul944
It is not the only one in the city. Normally I stay with family near Wat Phrathat Doi Tham and just walk to the temple to play with the cats and dogs there. Instead of ordering coffee with cake I donate a 10 kg bag of cat food. That is what has run most of the popular restaurants and bars out of the Nimmanhamin area.
