BANGKOK, 15th February 2018 (NNT) – Forensic police have made progress in inspecting a vehicle used by Italian Thai Co Ltd CEO Premchai Karnasutra and three others on an alleged illegal hunting trip but are waiting on confirmation of their findings.

Forensic Science Police Commander, Pol Maj Gen Tawachai Mekprasertsuk indicated today that an inspection of the Land Cruiser used by Premchai and his party when they entered Tungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary has turned up finger prints and gun powder residue but added that unidentified sets of finger prints were also found. All of the prints are to be tested against the weapons found at the scene to establish if any were the shooters.

Blood samples thought to be from poached animals found in the vehicle have been forwarded to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for DNA analysis. Police found no signs of adaptation of the car for hunting purposes but are to continue the analysis until a 30 day deadline is reached.

Head of the Phaya Sua Unit Chaiwat Limlikitaksorn meantime disclosed today that a secondary survey of the scene where Premchai and his party were found turned up pieces of animal intestine and two bone fragments with evidence pointing to the animal having been used for food. The evidence is to be forwarded to police investigators who are to further inspect the area later.

Meanwhile, at Premchai’s Rangyen Resort in Loei province, which is suspected of having encroached on a national park, Director of the Forest Fire Prevention Office of the Royal Forestry Department, Cheewaphap Cheewatham, today filed charges with the Dan Sai Police Station against CPK International Co Ltd, accusing it of circumventing the law to take ownership of 6,215 rai of land and convert it into a resort.

How many more evidences do they still need to convict this man? he was found

litelterly holding the smoking gun, at the crime scenes, having a soup made with the

leopard tail, with the curcesess and remains of the other animals, bullets and cartridges

can be matched to the one used to shoot the animals, the man is guilty as sin, and every

Thai should be outraged....

Hey! Let them do their job. And let them take as much time as they need collecting as much evidence as possible until he disappears or they can work out how best to help him.

As one or two other posters have pointed out on other, related, threads, there is something very, very odd about this case: it is extremely rare for such a rich, big-shot Thai tycoon to be so vilified, day after day, by the Authorities. Either it is for the purposes of deflection away from the Prawit watch scandal, or this guy has upset Prayuth and/or other top-level power holders. My gut feeling is that it is the latter case, as the anger directed towards this dreadful, repellant hunter (who resembles Prawit, morally and physically) by Prayut and similar types seems visceral. I think he has trodden on their toes big-time - but of course we are not privy to what he has done to upset them. But upset them he clearly has. Otherwise - no rich and powerful hi-so Thai (apart from the Shins, of course) would be dragged through the mud in this way (especially not under this military junta) ...

He's a great distraction from the 'watch' guy .

But at least it may result in this low-life being forced to leave the country for a couple of years.

Suspected criminals (implicated in poaching of elephants and disappearance of Karen villagers at Kaeng Krachan) investigating suspected poachers of wildlife at Thung Yai.  Where will the evidence trail lead and where will it be buried?  Lots of criminal activity of all kinds in Thailand's protected areas.

people with wealth and power are treated differently....

law enforcement will usually tread lightly when dealing with high profile personalities that have wealth...

IF they take a wrong step and prematurely accuse someone who has power and wealth of a crime they will most certainly lose their job and career.

IE if you are going to accuse someone with power of a crime you, sure as hell better be right or it's going to cost you bigtime.

I've made a similar comment in a previous thread and agree with you entirely. This is way over and above the norm and clearly there ulterior motives. When you mention the Shins I recall one afternoon in Bangkok wandering into the Corruption Museum and was escorted around by member of staff and my question at the end of the tour was. "Are the only people guilty of corruption in Thailand Thaksin and Yingluk Shinawstra?"

What an unbelievable investigation ! searching for what they have all they need but keep dragging it on !!!!

Many feel this poacher will walk away from justice, but at least he is getting a long and well deserved public shaming.  A shaming that will take years to get over.  The 1% will have to behave for a while, as the junta welcomes all distractions from their buffoonery.

In a desperate attempt to to distract from other issues...like say some watches...or an election. They all work for the same guy in the end and he is anxious to keep anything in the news that will provide him cover.

It is a Land Cruiser... What adaptation is needed ??

Guns fit in the back, check.

4x4 can get to chosen hunting spot, check.

Illegal booty fits in the back with the guns, check.

Fooled them with no modifications :)
