A British man suspected of money laundering has been arrested at Manchester airport on a flight from Thailand.

The unnamed man, who had been sitting in business class, was arrested on Tuesday morning after police boarded the aircraft as it sat on the runway.

The Manchester Evening News reports the arrest is part of a crackdown on organised crime in the north west of England.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said that two other men had also been detained.

No other details regarding the man who had travelled from Thailand were given in the report.

Police said that a total of 41 people been arrested since its Operation Zeus launched in November. Charges range from money laundering to conspiracy to supply drugs.

Senior investigating officer Det Insp Lee Boycott said: “The unlawful supply of controlled drugs can result in massive criminal gain and it's hugely important we target all those involved at every stage of any criminal activity.

“Today's arrest have focused on those helping hide those criminal assets and they are as involved as those street and local dealers who pedal this misery and we will do everything we can to bring them all to justice.”

“Our commitment in keeping our communities safe remains a priority and in line with the forces Operation Scorpion is directly targeting serious and organised crime,” he added.

“Possession and distribution of controlled drugs will not be tolerated and we will continue to take positive, robust action.

“We can't tackle this problem alone and key to our work is intelligence and

“I cannot emphasise enough the importance of the community sharing their concerns with us.”

Notice they wait until the miscreant is back in the UK rather than asking the local plod here to do anything  :clap2:

They wanted him to enjoy one last bit of comfort in his business class seat. From here on only Porridge!

The Police boarded the plane after landing...COMING FROM THAILAND not going to...just for those who thought otherwise ?

It seems the charges are related to drugs not only money laundering which many banks and big boys are involved in?

We can read.

He's in the UK as soon as he gets on the plane as far as I remember.

I think it depends on which airline he used, if BA then yes, but if a non British airline then I think pax are subject to the rules of the. Airlines country, up to passing through immigration.

Typical lack of professionalism from UK police. They don't even have a selfie with the suspect showing their name and saying how it's not Britain's fault.

Not to mention no pointing!

ps. sorry to pull up a 5 month old post, but everyone else is doing it... ☺️
