The dogs aren't to blame for some humans dumping them on the street and being left to breed unchecked and to forage for themselves. gamesgplayemail
I wish more people feed them and take care of them, so more grumpy old people who just don't know how to manage anything in a life keep complaining. By the way, thank you, your post reminded me to send some money to hope for stray dog https://www.facebook.com/HopeforStraysThailand/ http://hopeforstrays.org/dog-rescue-donations/ Edited February 17, 2018 by gamesgplayemail

So are you saying that Thailand doesn't have a dog problem, are you saying there are not too many dogs causing problems on the streets. BTW they are rhetorical questions, I do know the answer. But you saying "dogs don't bother me" is quite a selfish remark as dogs do bother other people including children. Dogs only bother children raised by ridiculous parents who know nothing and have been taught by their own ridiculous who also knew nothing. My kids exactly know how to manage any street dogs since they are 5 years old.

Not every parent has any interest in dogs and why should they. We are talking about dogs that have been abandened or born on the street, nobody has any interest in them because they are a nuisence. Only 'dog lovers' like yourself cannot comprehend the danger these flea bitten cretins can cause to themselves and humans. Please do not mistake my use of the word 'dog lovers' with responsable 'dog owners', it would appear to be a dog lover one must have a full or partial lobotamy. Soi dogs are a menace, surely this shouldn't be even up for debate! Edited February 17, 2018 by vogie 2

'Owned' dogs are more likely to cause minor problems (chasing 'bikes etc.) - again in my experience. But then again, the aggressive 'farangs' are likely to attract a similar result from any species!

As I said before Dick I am a dog owner and I like (emphasis on the like) dogs. That being said, dogs that are well controlled by responible dog owners. These soi dogs do not fall into that catagory, its a shame they have been dumped and do cause problems for other people, and you as an intelligent person should know dogs do not belong on the street. They are a problem, I have had to move house to get away from them barking all night, I have been chased by these damned mangy mutts when on my motorbike or bicycle. I find nothing more endearing than walking out of my gate in the morning and seeing a big brown present that has been left for me. So come on Dick you must realise that soi dogs need some sort of control, but it aint gonna happen, we all know that. 3

So assuming you are correct, and 80% of the dogs have rabies, they can’t be biting too many people.Hmmm, walking around with battle scars or being rounded up and killed by the more compassionate, that’s a tough choice.

The key is get them fixed but expats want to complain rather than to resolve the problem head on or get together with other people and do it as a group. You obviously have got it figured out and you have the time and resources to do things right. But how many people are like you? Most people who feed strays are only doing it to make themselves feel good. It's a very selfish act. Feral life in a city is not a good life. These dogs are all full of parasites and bugs. They get fed only intermittently. And they get into fights all the time over territory. They die nasty after a short life. Feeding strays is equal to giving them fertility drugs. You just increase the amount of suffering. It's wrong. If you really want to do something, find ways to reduce the population and perhaps educate others. I don't feed strays because it is wrong to feed a dog but not also care for it. 1 1

The very same dogs that people bring food for but after their good deed is done they go back home and let the rest of us deal with the consequences. If the dog bites a child or causes a fatal accident, well that's their fault for not being more careful. There's no way that person will actually take responsibility for the dog and bring it into their own homes because that would obviously be inconvenient for them and we don't want that!

Given that the incubation period of rabies is around 3 to 9 weeks, and that the disease is nearly always fatal, how come the dog population in this country has not, long since collapsed?

Do they take responsibility when it causes an accident ? Do they take responsibility when it bites someone ?If they feed it why don't they take it to their own home and take total responsibility for it ?

JAFO
Last Wednesday the Govt did a sweep of our neighborhood and the dog population was thinned out dramatically. It was a welcomed event for many as my wife heard the talk in the market. It was launched due to a Rabbi Virus concern and that it is being spread by Soi Dogs who have had zero care. I have read news where this is becoming more common now as it should. Make sure your dog or dogs have their tags and all their shots are current. Soi Dogs are problem in most areas in Thailand. Feeding them will keep them near your home and this can create numerous problems. They will move on to other areas if the food source dries up.

I guess that would be too inconvenient. When I see kids begging I buy them an ice cream if there’s a 7-11 around.
