The biggest problem with the modern day English people with regards to their history is that they are taught one version of it and the former colonies have another version - if the English people were taught the truth there wouldn't be so much ignorance of the very sordid past of their nation. I have met many English people with very different views of historical events as I was taught. For example - I remember having a conversation with an English woman in her mid twentys - her question to me was "why do the Irish hate the English so much?" - I started mentioning a few of the things the English did to the Irish and she said it was the first time she had heard about them - I found it surprising as it was basic history taught in Irish schools. So I think the English should change the curriculum in their schools and teach the true facts of events and not the "victors" version! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
