French 'Agent' to police in Pattaya linked to alleged threats against YouTuber

Mystery surrounds the role of Thierry Perenon, a French national, who claims to be working for the Royal Thai Police.

Despite DSI assertions that he had "misrepresented himself" he still might be active with new threats coming from an email account that bears his name.

He was pictured at the arrest of the Russian sex instructors in Pattaya and thereafter is said to have threatened the editor of Khaosod English when he demanded that the news media remove a story.

Barely veiled threats about "taking care of your family" were made.

Now his name has resurfaced  on correspondence in which a Youtuber who posted a damning video about a taxi driver received an email that looked like an extortion attempt.

In March the Department of Special Investigation based in Bangkok said they were investigating Perenon with DSI chief Korrawat Panprapakorn saying that the Frenchman had misrepresented himself.

According to the chief Perenon was not a sworn officer. He was part of a volunteer group that sends in tips about the activities of foreign gangs.

Chief Korrawat called it a "foreigner network organization" in Pattaya.

Perenon was said to have no legal authority.

At the time Perenon's Facebook page contained a picture of him apparently in the uniform of a Thai police officer.

His Facebook page is now bereft of details though it still contains pictures of his friends - the great majority of them appear to be police officers or women.

Unusually for a foreigner there are virtually no non-Thais on his Facebook page.

He is listed as having lived in Marseille and Pattaya and is said to be now working for the RTP and DSI News and living in Pattaya.

In the latest case, YouTuber Daniel Lee McKee, from Middlesbrough, England - known on his channel as Danny Mac - went to file a complaint with police that someone had tried to extort 200,000 baht from him in an email.

That email bore the name of Thierry Perenon.

The email, reported earlier today on Thaivisa, threatened Mr McKee and gave several options for sending money with a Thai person named on a bank account.

The email claimed to be acting in the interests of the taxi driver who took Mr McKee from Suvarnabhumi airport to his condo on March 27th. In the video driver Thongkham had called the YouTuber mean after expecting a tip.

He was later in tears when interviewed by Thai media over the matter.

Mr McKee said that matter was now over.

It is not known at this time if someone might have been impersonating Perenon or if it came from him.

In March the DSI confirmed on their website that they were investigating Perenon but there appears to have been no confirmation of the results of that investigation or any action taken against him.

The public were at the time asked to contact the DSI on 1202 (free call nationwide) if they had information about any illegal activities involving the Frenchman.

Guys look carefully at the language used in that email. I'm not at all convinced that a Frenchman (even if he couldn't write good English as in that email ) would use that kind of terminology.
Why would one Caucasian to another Caucasian refer to the monkey house?
And the other thing I question is whether anyone who has wormed his way into that position could be that incredibly stupid as to keep threatening people this way?

I agree the content seems like someone trying to write like English is not their 1st language when it is. Makes no sense this frog would implicate himself in this. All seems a bit fishy and lives are being turned upside down because of a taxi driver over charging.

This guy is clearly a cop.......who has now blown his cover, by trying a little blackmail on the side.....

So why is he in full uniform and taking part in arrests with the "real" police?

As the video a little down on the side will show....He looks a lot more than just a volunteer....

nutter

deport on medical grounds

I don`t think this guy is a nutter. Somehow he`s well in with the Thai police and that`s the mystery, what and exactly who is he?

This guy has done similar before and he`s still at it, so what exactly is behind this? Check his name on Google, it makes interesting reading. Seems to be some kind of company big shot in Thailand.

Very weird.

Wow this French agent has disgraced and tarnished the image of the Thai Police big time internationally, not to mention the offences under the computer crimes act.  Someone had better run and don't bother checking if you left a pot on the stove.

The guy is just a police volunteer, he has no powers to arrest say the police. Tell that to the Russians and others he has arrested.

Apparently by what I`ve been reading, the guy is a coppers nark. He turns in Farlangs that he discovers are breaking the law. Probably why the police tolerate this guy. Easy to find, plenty about him online, past and present.

If that Thierry really sent it then he really is an idiot as i guess he been warned already by his friends in Brown to keep a low profile after being caught out first time.

The cop wannabees really are sad, here is how it goes..they already make/have some money illegally here then befriend a high up cop who tells them they can join/help them and make some money too by grassing/helping them with farang activities...they then think they are untouchable and go a bit over the top with there activities and get away with it for a while(months/years) which makes them feel even more untouchable then eventually they do it to wrong people who also have connections then it all comes out in the open....maybe these sad individuals have a uniform fetish, maybe they were turned away by the scouts for being too weird or were really bullied as a kid as they were dicks that they want to be in control now they made some money and think they are real mafia associates now  haha  ...in reality the police cant stand them and laugh about them behind there backs but will use them as help make them money.......till there bosses(Bangkok police) then tell them that this farang is being a problem(getting noticed) and so they are then told its all over (maybe an arrest and a fine :bangkok police payment) then they have to reel there necks in and be the quiet narcassistic tossers they are.......sifu, etc..they all learn the hard way and the expensive way...also these wannabes always seem to want to have photos with anyone in police/army/tv etc and pretend they are best friends when these guys wouldnt even remember there names if asked.....funny as <deleted>.Those who have been here many years see it occur every 5 years or so,the wannabes and volunteers who get stitched up themselves after stitching up others for years.......they never think will happen  to them each time....but it always does...but this french guy real stupid to put on facebook and tell people he is actually a real Thai cop and that all his high up "friends" will help him with anything he does..wrong and your time is over now as a "mafia" man.......you think the police really accepted you,ask the other wannabes and they may tell you.

He has just as many medals as the Thai guy and gained his wings.  Must be more than just a snitch.  He is described as an agent, does he parachute into the bars then covertly move around gathering intelligence?

You want medals/ ribbons the same as him?

Go down to your local market you will probably find a stall selling them for around 200 baht.

A real policeman and highly decorated if the ribbon bar is any indication, and the badge above that shows he has completed the Thai police parachute course.

Well he is for the high jump now!

Looks familiar, does he strut around Walking Street?

I served in a real army and after retirement, for a real police agency. No wings, no trinkets and four rows of good ribbons. I can only smile at the goibgs on here.
