UTTARADIT, 24 April 2018 (NNT) – The Provincial Police Region Six dispatched drugs combatting units, while some 1,000 drug suspects have been arrested over the past six months.

Deputy Commissioner of the Provincial Police Region Six Pol Maj Gen Wanchai Sawansiriket presided over the dispatching ceremony for the anti-drugs units at Uttaradit Provincial Police Station where officials of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, military and police officers attended.

He said the police had launched a mission called "Pitak Pracha 61/1" to eradicate drugs, including operations against networks of those who may have allegedly smuggled drugs from foreign countries and other suspected criminal groups supporting such illegal networks.

He urged the authorities to work carefully and to use appropriate strategy for the safety of the general public and their own.

Since last October, Uttaradit Provincial Police Station has arrested 985 suspects related to drug trafficking charges, seized 453,566 methamphetamine pills, 1128.89 grams of dried marijuana, 76.11 grams of crystal meth, 13 fresh marijuana trees, and six kratom trees.
