Agreed, time to hit the schools, corrupt visa agencies & the immigration officers... cut it off at the source & the "fake teachers" or so called language students will go elsewhere!

From the OP:

Charges are soon to be laid that refer to the alleged falsification of visas on behalf of foreigners.

So just get immigration to check the teaching ability of any African's with a teaching visa on arrival. Should not be hard to figure out who's  a fake. Pay me a salary and I'll do it myself.

Why not check the teaching ability of EVERYONE with a teaching visa on arrival? White skin alone is not an indicator of superior teaching ability. Why should anyone pay you a salary to check teaching ability when you don't understand how to use possessive pronouns?

Sigh ! Because the current problem in Thai schools according to the Police in the report is with teachers coming out of AFRICA. Target you resources. And who said anything about skin colour - my post was 'Africa' - or are you being racist in your own post by trying to insinuate ALL Africans are black ?

I think you cleaned that up rather nicely. However,

Manager reported that many of those arrested were "people of color"

By the way, it's target "your" resources.

This is good news getting rid of foreigners doing illegal activities . But I hope the "real" students does not get in trouble too.  If you want to study Thai , is there a time limit to it ?  1 year , 2 years, 5 years ?

If they start deporting people based on too much education , "you need to go home" mentality , then what happens next ?

it was at least 5 years, but you can select anything to study, like english or thai boxing,

or cooking, and a bunch of other stuff, and do each of those 5 years too if need be.

IMO its not an issue if the student can be arsed to study,

he pays many times more for visa than a pensioner

Usual teacher hate, strange, EVERY farang business owner in BKK I know is doing various illegal activity from fake employees, shame marriage, bribed vias etc, but the person struggling on 30 k a month and often, but not always, being pretty harmless, is the target of so many. Is your life so empty that hours and hours on this, once awesome, forum is what you do in your spare time.

I am a university student in Thailand and occasionally miss a class, the uni is expensive and to target us is silly, maybe the Thai language school thing has been abused to often by Africans, they all seem to be 'Thai language students', at least all I have met............ ALL tried to sell me drug too.

Anyway, when can we see this level of awesome policing attack the rape stats?

"EVERY farang business owner in BKK I know is doing various illegal activity"

You are mixing with the wrong people then.

Big Joke was a nick name given to him by Thai language media.

And like you say he is far from a joke.

This week alone he has overseen:

ED visa crackdown

illegal foreigners

A shady condo developer in Phuket targeting foreigners

Street racers

Drug bust at a Bangkok bar

Call centre scammers

Shady cosmetics operation
Fraudulent tour companies
Romance scam targeting a Chinese woman
Survanabhumbi thief
Man impersonating police officer threatening Indian tourist

He's doing real police work - lots of it

Good to see he’s going after many things at once and not just visa overstayers and those with sham visas. There are a million reasons why Thailand can be labeled a “$h!thole country” but a few Africans on the wrong visa or who have overstayed their visa is hardly in the top 100 of those reasons. Why not address traffic deaths, corruption, unemployment, crime, racism, gun, soi dogs, loud roosters in the morning, or any number of more important problems in Thailand. Failure to do so and to call yourself a competent government is a big joke.

Keep your hair on mate.

This guy does look like he cares,   a lot more than some of the others.

but he does need some minions or little jokes around him,   to do some good work,  as well.

One day maybe !!!!!!!!!!!

twas ever thus...

But.... the illegal teachers ARE rife in schools in Thailand or else we wouldn't be having all this "X-Ray Outlaw Foreigner" malarkey now would we?

More now than ever before, due to the policies of successive governments over the last 15 or so years.  But it seems that the reporting was sub-standard- it isn't teachers who have been targeted but people abusing the education visas.  That also explains why they were arresting 'teachers' in the middle of the night during the school holidays.

So TEFL teachers took the usual pasting from Thai Visa bigots.  Enough of the crazy arguments about illegal teachers being rife in Thai schools.

Who came up with the name Big Joke, this man is far from being a joke. I hope Surachet is allowed to continue, he creates an impression that a part of the Thai police force might be redeemable. I also hope he is VERY careful, accidents happen in the strangest ways.

His name's Big Jok, but those who don;t like him, call him so.

But there are people who teach on such a visa, wouldn't you agree?

Probably, but I don't think those that have recently been arrested by Mr Jok and his team fit into the category.

Of course not. But that might change when they raid government schools nationwide once they are open and the teachers at work.

Joke refers to a rice dish usually consumed at breakfast. It has absolutely nothing to do with the English connotation. You never met a girl called Porn?

or a guy named 'kittiporn'  I'd have to change my name.

Not me.  I have the right qualifications, but won't teach in Thailand.

Just pointing out what should be obvious: this is about students!
