American pimp arrested in northern Thailand was running Burmese sex ring on Facebook

Thai tourist police include foreigners, and of course caucasians would be used in an operation such as this.

One report says that the undercover Police were Thai tourist Police , another report says that they were U.S operatives .

 The irony .....

Book synopsis: Lali, a beautiful young Burmese lady is "found" by a farang, who arranges with her massage parlor 'mama san' to allow her to go to the United States.

In real life, our proud hero Ken Albertsen's story doesn't have a happy ending.  :1zgarz5: Part 2, the sequel: Jailhouse Blues, a Pimp's Diary.

Didn't you visit his facebook page ? He openly admitted he took tourists on sex trips to Myanmar.

yep.  but many people go on such things.  Doesn't necessarily mean he took them to his places

Well of course he may have taken them to the viewing platform at Wat Pha Tha Doi Wait, (the scorpion temple) and pointing at the general direction of Burma remarked " they've got women over there you know!" Given the nature of his "adverts" on Facebook and Craigslist I should imagine the service he provided was somewhat more comprehensive...

That's probably why both the Thai and US authorities were so keen to "sting him".

If the accused is found guilty I hope they lock him up here not the U.S.  In a U.S. prison he would have 3 square meals and some rights. Of course had the accused been caught in the U.S. he would be out already as being a pimp in the U.S. isn't a high crime, especially a first offense

The big takeaway however is he just one of many old slime ball foreigners from various countries doing the same crap. I find is despicable because they exploit impoverished girls, flash money at them and they really have no idea what is in store for them.  it likely not glamorous based on the foreigners you see walking around the tourist areas. Many of the creepy old men that come to SEAsia are abusive to their guest of the night and make them do some horrible things then hop a plane back.

Its a weird world and never ceases to amaze me what one human being can do to another.

While I believe if guilty this guy should be punished, but the idea that he should rot away in prison for more than a few years for arranging prostitution between willing participants of legal age I think is a little rugged...

Oh I think 5 years here would do the trick then Blacklist him and send him back to the States.

How benevolent of you. That's a mere 2,628,000 minutes or 44,000 hours in a Thai jail.

...wails the guy who can't believe what one human being can do to another.

Years ago, i think the same guy was advertising free-climbing around Chiang Rai, i was almost going to contact him, then i chose another destination for my trip.

Honestly, i don't see him as a hardened criminal.. Foolish, greedy maybe, but to define him "a human trafficker" is a bit too much imho.

Then, some poster here gave a hint of him doing these "tours" for quite a while... How could he think to get away with that ?

By giving a share of the profit to the important officials high up on the ladder.

One wonders if the authorities have harvested his posting history from this forum yet.  He hasn’t posted since Apr 29 but his account is still active so I am wondering if people are hoping he will continue to contribute his unique world view from prison?

An insiders view or insider trading maybe yes its got legs

What this guy is mostly is dumb. He is not a criminal mastermind or a pimp. Just a person without enough self awareness to know what you can and cannot do in a society in which you are merely a guest.

So...it turns out he has never been charged with human trafficking after all. A slanderous lie.

The next question is......Excluding the tabloid which initiated this particular 'discussion', how many posters on here stand the distinct possibility of facing charges of defamation? And, if you think you are anonymous, think again.

Yes. I totally agree. Maybe we need a new thread. Maybe two even. Certainly we could all discuss what we believe would be fare restitution for libelous statements made pretrial...statements that may prove to prejudice the outcome of the trial itself.

Ozzyjohn, altho I agree with your sentiment, I hardly believe the mussings of posters here could ever waft beyond their keyboards, certainly not to the benches of Thai courts. Even the statement of what the charges are is speculation, as I believe these have not been formalized so far. As is the norm here in TV, the spew is generally vile and the crowd self aggrandized. No doubt the subject of this thread suffering from the same, living in an alternate reality. Anyway this whole shitshow brought on by a teeny tiny fish in a giant pond of sharks and bottom feeders. Seriously a non event in the big picture of the Thai sex industry. I'm hoping that at least the courts will be the most level headed participants in this botched display on display. If anyone is guilty of human trafficking it's the mamasan who gathered and escorted the women across the border and paid out the women and pocketed the handsome commission in front of the undercovers, imho.
