Rescue teams step up search for Russian woman missing on Koh Samui

Specialist search and rescue teams have been drafted in to help try and locate a Russian woman missing on Koh Samui.

Inna Obukhova, 39, was last seen on April 21 at the entrance of the Centara Coconut Beach Resort.

Staff from the hotel have filed a missing persons report and posters containing her photo have been placed around the island but Ms Obukhova’s whereabouts remain unknown.

The search for Ms Obukhova has been made more difficult after it was revealed the Centara Coconut Beach Resort does not have CCTV so it is not known what she was wearing when she disappeared or if she left the hotel with anyone.

On Wednesday rescue workers along with hotel staff searched the beach, a forest area and a nearby hillside.

Ms Obukhova is described as slim, 174 centimeters tall and is said to suffer from amnesia. She also can not speak English.

Ms Obukhova’s father, Sergei, has flown to Koh Samui from Russia to help with the search.

Last week,  a local woman reported seeing a woman matching the description of Ms Obukhova on a nearby beach. The witness said the woman was wearing a bikini and described her as looking spaced out.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen Ms Obukhova is urged to call 080-892-8548.

Well a beach in Thailand is better than a park bench in Salisbury.

21 of april? If she is still alive, I will take a qualified guess that she would have changed clothes a couple of times by know.

How many young foreign women tourists have to disappear or get murdered on Koh Samui before authorities start looking into the possibility that the resort has a serial murderer/rapist in the vicinity.  This is getting to be common cenario.

Not optimistic.  I think by now they have found a more full proof way of disposing of remains.  It is a consistent trend on the popular Thai islands.  Later they will say she was mentally ill, or some other BS

Lost of great conspiracy theories here. People are generally try to find her but the spookie serial

killer spin is a much more interesting story. Real or not.

I can only only assume that her family told the authorities of her mental condition. I doubt someone would have murdered her then they spin a story that’s she was mentally ill

i reckon her family wouldn’t agree if the government made up a lie
