Sanook said that evidence from CCTV was clear that two trainee low cost airline employees had stolen a plastic wallet from a German tourist who left it on a counter as he checked in for a flight to Bangkok.

Police were called after the tourist - Marten, 33 - said the wallet was missing. It contained 1,200 baht, 90 Euros and documents such as credit card and driving licence.

Kritsada and Itthiphon, both 28, were arrested as they drove away in a car from the airport.

They said they were keeping the wallet safe to return the documents and items to the passenger. They claimed there was never any money in it.

They have been charged with theft or receiving stolen property at an airport at night - this charge carries a penalty of between one and seven years jail and a fine between 2,000 and 40,000 baht.

The incident happened at 9.20 pm on Friday said Pol Col Thongchai Wilaiphrom of the Krabi Tourist police investigating.

Well you have to give them credit for their excuse, keeping it safe to return to the passenger.

Yet they were driving away from the airport..... Priceless 0/10 for effort, better luck next time.

What's the charge for the daytime?

These trainees should fail their training course and be made to repete it until they can steal and not get caught!

That would be the most Thai thing to do, but repeating the training while in their inactive post.

How do people with such an obviously low IQ [ judging by their inane excuse ) get  employed anywhere near an airline check in counter.

mmm if honest you must say there is not a huge genius pool to pick from.

actually looking at these 2 i can kinda understand why the minimum wage is low

Which low cost airline?

Easy to deduce from the red shirts;

NOK Air - Yellow shirts

Thai Smile - Orange shirts

Bangkok Air is white  and they are not LCC

There are only two low cost airlines on the KBV route who have employees in red shirts. I can think of one LCC that has a trim on the sleeves like the  guys in the photo. I do not think it is Thai Air Asia. because their colour is a different red and no trim.   A google flights search will tell you the other airline.

Then, as he is  now 'qualified', he could get a job at the main airport handling baggage.
