Five people arrested by Phnom Penh military police over the advertisement and distribution of sex toys on social media are expected to make their first court appearance today. The arrests took place on Thursday evening at a house in Meanchey district.

Rath Sreang, Phnom Penh Military Police commander, said yesterday that officers arrested four men and one woman after discovering more than 100 sex toys and sexual enhancing drugs being stored at the location. He refused to identify the suspects. “We are questioning these people so we can not tell you any details yet,” he said. “After the inquiry is complete, they will be sent to court on Monday.”

Mr Sreang said that the distribution of sex toys is considered a violation of Khmer culture, customs and laws, adding that it can negatively influence the younger generation by creating sexual desire that could lead some people to commit rape. Sen Komon, chief of the municipal anti-human trafficking bureau, said that officials took notice of an advertisement displaying various sex toys on Facebook.

Those who enjoy such items can no doubt easily find substitutes. So a crack down on selling is rather fruitless.

Maybe Thailand and Cambodia can swap police for a week or so....They'd find a fertile crop of dildos on lower Sukhumvit and Patpong, after the sun falls.

The local police seem to have difficulty recognizing them.

Yeah right.  Is castration the next step?  Or maybe all the Khmer ladies should wear burqas?

My hometown of Brookline, Massachusetts, (Hometown of JFK as well as the late King of Thailand) was one of the first in the US to Have a sex toy shop run by and catering to females named Grand Opening and founded by a former porno star/sex worker.  This was in the mid-1990s.

They didn't object to male browsers as long as we didn't salivate on the merchandise or breathe heavily and they did have an interesting inventory,,,especially the video & book section and lots of really curious leather devices.

There were two sections devoted to dildos & vibrators; one labled "Faux Fallus",with -um- penile like devices the other "Vegan Vices"  an amazing array of silicone shapes, every conceivable vegatable even resembling a vegetable shape.

They really are far more imaginative then we are.

So the lack of sex toys like dildos can drive women to rape men to fulfill their sexual desire?

Be on guard young men of Cambodia!

Yeah ! Good Job to have those hard core (sic) crooks arrested.....these dildo's were at risk to be exported to the USA and violate the sodomy laws in some states,  where it is (still) against the law to enter the Missus (or the Mister !!) from the back door !!..
