Following the Nowegian Embassy statement (see link below) Norwegians are dying in Thailand at an unprecedented rate...............

Norwegian Death Rate Concerns

Two Norwegian’s lose their lives in Pattaya and Sattahip.

It was a bad weekend for the local Norwegian Community as we now report on two fatalities, one from Sattahip and the other from Pattaya.

The first case from nearby Sattahip led to the death of Mr. Frode Leirvik aged 40 who was killed after his motorbike collided with the rear of a pick-up on the Sukumvit Road. Mr. Leirvik was thrown from his bike and landed on the rear of the pick-up. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Khun Wina aged 31, a construction worker and driver of the pick-up explained to Police that he had left a local Karaoke Bar and was returning back to his home when he heard a loud noise and then a thudding sound and realized that someone had smashed into the rear of his vehicle and the victim was lying in the back of his pick-up.

Police tell us that tyre tracks confirmed the bike was driving at a considerably high speed and have not apportioned any blame for the crash onto the pick-up driver.

The second case was dealt with by Pattaya Police Station who received information of a foreign fatality inside Room Number 307 in an apartment block in Soi Yensabai, South Pattaya. Inside the room, Police inspected the body of Mr. Gunter Yanne aged 68 from Norway. Police inspected the body and room and found nothing suggesting a third-party involvement in the case.

However, it is known that the man was living with a Thai man who is currently being located. The cause of death is now under examination by forensic doctors who suspect natural causes is the most likely cause of death after an intial examination.

In both cases, the Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok has been informed and are conducting their own independent investigations.
