chilidog
I was wandering what the suggested stocking densities are for growing pla duk.
Get Real
Maybe you will find it here. Got up it with a Google search. Didn´t care to check and read though. You will have to check it yourself, if you not found it already of course. http://www.fao.org/docrep/field/003/ac231e/AC231E04.htm
surfdog
its likely around 2-3 per 1x1meter of surface area, it depends also what size you will harvest and water quality. I raise Tilapia, pla grai, pla ret, absolutely do not want catfish of any kind. But if your pond is big enough (2rai+) look into raising Pla Book/Mekhong CatfishSent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
chilidog
After doing a bit of reading the suggested stocking densities was 10,000 per 400m2 x 1.5m deep. I have 5 ponds so I was just trying out different kinds of fish. I havent yet got my ponds set up with the proper aeration so I thought pla duk would be a good one for now. surfdog
Problem maybe encouter with the Russian catfish and other commercial varieties is that will be invasive and difficult to remove unless you can completely dry and lye (or other chemical I may be mistaken) your ponds. Tilapia is same problem so why you can get sexed fish, which also increases the size of stock.Pla Chon, Pla Grai, and Pla Red is top export quality currently for first world countries.Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
