webfact Posted June 6, 2018 Share Posted June 6, 2018 Six new ferry connections - many for cars - will be boon for Andaman tourism Picture: Manager Online Harbor authorities are proposing six new routes to connect islands and ports in the Andaman area. Dubbed the "Andaman Ring" the proposed routes will connect Phuket, Pangnga and Krabi with a modern fleet of new vessels cutting journey times and expanding tourism in the region. Many of the routes will be able to carry vehicles further adding to convenience. A meeting was held yesterday between the government, private sector and potential ferry operators. Tenders have been sought by June 15th and decisions have been promised by August 31st. The main route (number 1) will connect Phuket and Krabi Airports by passenger ship - this will go from Krabi, Pak Klong Jilat to Nam Leuk in Phuket. The ship will be capable of carrying 300 people and take one hour. The other routes: 2: Ferry (cars and passengers) Ao Por, Phuket to Chong Lat, Pangnga to Tha Len, Krabi. 3: Ferry (cars and passengers) Chong Lat, Koh Yaw Yai, Ma Noh, Koh Yaw Noi, Pangnga. 4 Ferry (cars and passengers) Ban Hua Hin, Koh Klang Lanta, Ban Klong Mak (Lanta Noi) Krabi 5 Ferry (cars and passengers) Ao Thong Lang Koh Lanta, Koh Hang, Koh Poo, Pangnga. 6 Ferry (cars and passengers) port at Amphoe Kao, Koh Lanta Yai to Koh Por Krabi. 7 Ferry (passengers only) Sala Dan Koh Lanta to Ao Por Phuket. Route number three is subject to review after the consultation process leaving six that are planned to go ahead. Sound like they are seriously brain damaged, if you take that philosophy and combine it with the hard work of preserving the nature and beaches.
