Samui cops arrest building contractor for stealing kitchenware from Frenchman/Thai wife

ONB News praised the work of the Maenam, Koh Samui police in tracking down a devious building contractor who stole from a French kitchen designer and his wife on the island.

Niphon Nareejan, 45, pinched goods worth more than one million baht from a depot over a period of two months. It was all designer kitchenware used by Kunwadee Phromjan, 30, and her French husband Christoph in their business.

Most of the stuff was found at Niphon's house in the Ban Tai area of the island. He had sold some to second hand dealers and as new to other people.

He indicated that he had acted alone but police are not buying that and are continuing to press him.

In an effort at mitigation Niphon said that the economy was bad and he needed to resort to stealing to get money.

Kunwadee is the daughter of a prominent local official in the area called Phisit Phromjan.

That's really no excuse to go rogue, Somchai. Why can't you get into government, just like the others who are there to help boost the economy?

And if she wasn't the daughter of a prominent official would the police have acted so quickly.

Yes, our local police are both very polite and quick to come and help whenever needed – and so is this prominent official also...?

Certainly does. And they wouldn't want to piss off Phisit ?

Good knifes and forks are scarce in Thailand....

Must be very good ones, and a lot of, for 1 million Baht (when that amount can be shown in official purchase invoices...), ...or was it rather 'sentimental value', what'd be acceptable too, well, like coming from a respectable 'French kitchen designer', this gentleman no doubt is, wouldn't you say?
