I am sure the lady in that photo is delighted with being placed in an article about criminals and sex offenders....

Perhaps they should give her a ubiquitous Thai moniker like "Porn" or something to that effect :coffee1:

Why so difficult to stopping sex offenders at the airports? They are everywhere at provincial or district levels. There are so many government officials patronizing "RESORTS". It is so easy to nab them!

? Please explain or rewrite

Like I mentioned before to the cry babies who complain how long it takes them to get thru immigration.

The IO is actually conducting an investigation when people come into the country.

Good for them for doing their job!

And leaving the country queues? Anyway they are not IO. They are border police..Nobody is crying. People complain, quite rightly, about understaffing with up to 50% of passport processing booths empty.

Wrong!

They are Royal Thai Police Officers assigned to the Immigration division.

Their job assignment is that of an "Immigration Officer" or IO for short...

It is a highly desired assignment within RTP because of the $$$.

BPP: Border Police Patrol are not related to airport/immigration related queue positions.

OK. But still not enough of them on duty what ever you want to call them.

Muat be your limited travel experience as I find it one of the faster major cities to get through.

LAX in April was 2 hours so I never complain about this place.

More than 3,600 foreigners with criminal records have been arrested at or turned away from five major airports in the first six months of the year, immigration police said Sunday.

If so, then well done to them.

However, my question would be how does the IO office know if someone has a criminal record from outside of Thailand or is wanted in another country. Unless a country has informed Thailand that they may be travelling there and could be a danger, surely their computer at the airport can't access this information.

If I am wrong then please correct me.

They don't know anything that is why so many of these sex offenders enter Thailand. Unless the Interpol inform them and the data is fed into the computer then the computer will pop up with the names when IO enter the passport number or names.

But Interpol only send out names of serious crimes offenders. They send them to many countries not only Thailand. Countries help each other when requests are made.

The is Interpol that maintains a database with records of internationally wanted criminal. The immigration officer can check the name on the passport against this database. https://www.interpol.int/en
