Forest ranger almost strangled to death by python while posing for a selfie with it

Recommended Posts

An Indian forest ranger was nearly strangled to death by a 90-pound python when he captured the overgrown reptile and then posed for a selfie with it.

Sanjay Dutta was called to the village of Sahebbari, West Bengal, on Sunday after the huge 30-foot Indian rock python swallowed a goat alive near a school.

He was able to wrangle the snake, but instead of placing it in a bag, he wrapped it around his neck to pose for photographs.

However, just seconds later, the snake began to constrict around Dutta’s neck, wrapping one coil completely round his neck, as he began to visibly panic.

Fortunately he was able to free himself with the help of villagers, and he was able to walk away unscathed.

Despite the panicked expression on his face, Dutta told Agence France-Presse: “I was not scared for even a moment.

“Because had I panicked, it could have been fatal.”

Indian rock pythons are non-venomous and it kills its prey by constricting it before swallowing it head first.

I've seen a python squish a chicken to nothing in less than a second, including the attack, This Rock Python was obviously too well fed to bother too much.

And chickens are bigger and more muscular than Indian park rangers so these guys should take extra precautions.

Do click on the article if you have not. The real story is that based on the "30 foot long" estimate the people in the video must be 25 feet tall.

Agree! 8 or 9 feet maybe.  And what an idiot.  He of all people should know what they do.   It is when they can anchor the tail that it gets serious.  The weight is probably about right at 90 pounds.  A 30 foot python if such exited would weigh a lot more than that.  Not a patch on the one they uncoiled off that very lucky dog in the video two or three days ago.  That was quite a bit longer; maybe 14-15 feet or so.   We literally "drove one" about 12-14 feet long out of the garage up under the Vigo Ute about 2 years ago.  The dogs were going apes%$t in theyard and by the time we got downstairs he had got into the garage through the steel gate. He then got up onto the back axle and springs to escape us.  So we took the car out onto the road next to army land and levered loops of him out with bamboo poles til he fell off and left us.   Wife took pix on her phone of the brave Falang and his trusty dog sidekicks.

I looked the video I did not see this Indian Ranger man panicking one second, on the contrary he was able to maintain the head firmly during the “ accident” that is certainly not panicking!

Not much to pick between the two in the intelligence stakes though

Ok, let's be fair, if you straighten the snake out I would guess that it would be about 12 feet long but unless it was a very small goat about the size of a cat, I cannot see it anywhere in the snakes stomach because they eat them whole and you would see the bumps of the goat in the snake.

30 Ft = rubbish

Eaten a goat = rubbish

stupid Indian Park Ranger = true
