rooster59
"In the trees we trust" - lottery fever grips Phayao Image: Sanook Thais are still putting their faith in getting rich from the trees. One in particular in Phayao always has a lot of lottery devotees around the time of the big draws. It is a 20 meter high takhian tree thought to be more than 100 years old reported Sanook. It takes seven men with outstretched arms to encircle its circumference. It grows in the Dong Hor park in the northern Thai province and is adorned with holy cloth and surrounded by incense sticks. It always has many visitors hoping to get rich when the state lottery is about to be drawn Many believe that a female spirit resides in the takhian tree. Even when old trunks are discovered they are revered and preserved as the faithful show their respects to the spirit and see if they can discern the winning numbers in the bark. canuckamuck
The tree spirit would likely give up the numbers, if took off all of the crap hanging on the tree and maybe sprinkled a bit of fertilizer around too.
heybuz
If those blokes moved closer to the tree it would only take two and a half men to circle it,if they moved further away it would take ten men to circle the tree.oiii
