Nothing is wrong with being the best in town, but when you qualify it by saying "best of a bad bunch", the meaning is significantly altered. You even took it a step further by saying you go to a dentist in a different town suggesting even the best in this town is not good enough for you.

I actually know the practitioner to whom Kitten Kong is referring. She is the best. ?

In addition, being based at a hospital, she has access to the best support and equipment.

Taking nothing away from Dr Warin, since he is based in Pattaya. So perhaps he is one of the best in Pattaya.

Is he a Diplomate of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?

Best of a bad bunch is still the best in town, and to me it sounds like a compliment.

And yes, I do go to another town because I find medical services in general to be better and cheaper there. It's not a question of what's "good enough for me".

NO! "Best of a bad bunch" means all in the bunch are bad. He's the best bad one. It's a veiled insult. You're not a dummy - I'm sure you know this.

I know you're extremely budget conscious, but I'll put money down you're paying more for your dentist up north... and he or she is not better... and that's before factoring in the cost of travel.

This thread is about recommendations for a good dentist in Pattaya. Suggesting the whole bunch is bad (all dentists in Pattaya are bad) and one must travel long distance to find a good one is absurd, especially when you made your assessment of Dr Warin based on "a couple of cleanings". I've had crowns installed. Inlays that another dentist f***d up taken off and replaced. I've had root canal, and fillings. I know his work.

You've done exactly this in every single "Pattaya dentist" thread since you became a member in 2013. There were many Dr Warin recommendations long before you arrived. It's the reason I found him in the first place back in 2008.

So why would I take your word for it that she is the best? Because you say so? You might have noticed that no one believes anyone on here and one has to work very hard to convince people of anything. I remember many recommendations over the years for a certain very attractive female dentist that worked from a hospital in Pattaya. Could that be the same one? I don't remember her name. It seemed many members on here were in love with her and touted her as being the very best dentist in the entire universe.

Either way, it does not matter. I never suggested that Dr Warin is the world's number one dentist or even the best in Thailand. He's in Pattaya, and that's where my dentist needs to be. IMO and the opinion of many others over the years, he is the best in Pattaya.

You seem to be all over the shop. Both KittenKong and I have made it clear the the practitioner is in Sri Racha and not Pattaya. So why "a certain very attractive female dentist that worked from a hospital in Pattaya"? Perhaps you are referring to a Dr Cherry. Don't know anything about her.

I also asked you if he was a Diplomate of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Certainly if someone is conducting invasive surgery, I'd like to know they have the correct qualifications.

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon as opposed to just a dentist.

So, you nor anyone else needs to take my word for it. Look at the qualifications.

I didn't disagree that he wasn't perhaps one of the best in Pattaya. That wasn't the suggestion.

Ms Suwangatte resides in Sri Racha.

It's not a veiled insult as far as I'm concerned.

I dont think that she costs more per se, but there probably are extra costs due to her working in a hospital. Cost is relevant to everything but it is not the main criteria in dentistry (or many other things) for me. If I just wanted to pay as much as possible I would go straight to BPH where I'm sure they would oblige. But I dont think they they would necessarily be any better than Warin, hence my comment. His clinic is certainly better than the other ones that I have personally tried in Pattaya (which does not include BPH).

You don't consider it a veiled insult, but it is. The saying "best of a bad bunch" indicates that all are bad... which just happens to be an insult for all the dentists in Pattaya as well as Dr Warin. Even more to the point, how could you possibly know that every dentist in Pattaya is bad? You know it, but hell will freeze over before you admit you're wrong. I like him a lot, but still that's just a subjective opinion as I also haven't visited all the dentists in Pattaya.

Let me make it very clear. I don't use Dr Warin because he is cheap or cheaper than any other dentist. I never enquired about prices when I first went there. That was just a very pleasant surprise to learn that he is rather inexpensive. It was even better to learn that he's conservative and tries to save teeth before suggesting crowns, inlays etc.

I visit Dr Warin because he's a dentist that can take care of my teeth. I have no idea what further qualifications he has other than a course at UCLA for dental implantology.

What further qualifications a dentist has is quite irrelevant when assessing the skills of a dentist for basic dental care... which is all I've ever needed from a dentist. You can find highly qualified specialists in many fields of medicine that are butchers. It's quite possible that a dentist that does great jaw surgery as an "oral and maxillofacial" specialist is lousy at basic fillings and fitting crowns. For example, I know one person that had the BEST orthopedic surgeons in Thailand "fix" his tibia after a motorcycle crash. They literally butchered it. He still can't walk without crutches 7 years later and it's so f***** up that he can't even get an artificial knee implanted.

The bottom line is that I don't care about what qualifications your favourite dentist has up north. That doesn't prove she's good. If you will only see an "oral and maxillofacial surgeon" to perform basic dentistry on you - that's your choice. I hope she's good and it's not just certificates. There are a lot of bad, highly qualified doctors about. If I needed serious surgery of the neck, face or jaws I would probably go looking for one of your "oral and maxillofacial surgeons"... but in that case, I'd be asking around for the best "oral and maxillofacial surgeon" and not a regular dentist. Are you sure there aren't even better "oral and maxillofacial surgeons" in Pattaya?

Why the need to write all of that that rubbish?

She is proven good because the people who have utilised her skills over the years have told you so.

You were the one who posted about Khun Warin's certificate. So why the childish retort when I mention that she is also a Diplomate of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?

She is both a dentist and an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Implantology is but one of her skills. Of course she has also taken care of basic work such as fillings and cleaning, in addition to oral surgery and implantology.

The fact that she comes highly recommended makes all of your 'stories' totally irrelevant.

Grow up man. It's not a pissing contest.

We think she is the best because of her skills and qualifications. We haven't found anyone better and we aren't looking.

I've deliberately left out the personal aspect here, but I can tell you that she is one of the kindest people I have ever met.

I'm not going to embarrass her by revealing some of the things that she has done above and beyond.

I understand your loyalty to Khun Warin. Most certainly not suggesting that you should change. But you should also understand why some of us choose to travel up to 40 kms to see a particular practitioner.

No need for your childlike retorts....and your becoming more childish with each post.

I actually spent months researching practitioners from Bangkok to Pattaya before making a decision. I'm really happy with my choice and clearly, so is KittenKong.

Pattaya Dentist Recommendation

I found Warin nearly five years ago through an internet search along with two others...all three came (at the time) highly recommended,my first port of call was at Warin,s practice....nothing elaborate about the place in fact some have said its looking rather dated/run down....the receptionist asked how long was my visit as he was busy fortunately I was here for one month...fine I got an appointment for 3 weeks later.

Off I popped to Dr Cherry at Central Festival asked for an appointment, told come back in two days....I gave her carte blanche to treat my teeth, her recommendation amounted to a cost of 190,000 baht 1 implant and 12 crowns/veneers....she asked how I had found her and I told her through recs on the internet....I also mentioned Warin plus another guy in Jomtien...she knew them both (I do believe she and Warin had worked together at some point earlier in their careers...this someone told me later) and congratulated me on my choices saying all were very competent dentists.

I never did get to see the Jomtien dentist, while waiting to see Warin I was made aware of how well known and respected he is with both farang and thai,so my choice was between Cherry and Warin.

Upon seeing Warin he asked me what I wanted...I replied that my teeth are warn and looking a mess and what did he suggest....his conclusion was identical to Dr Cherrys 12 crowns and 1 implant......his quote however was for 140,000 baht some 50,000 baht cheaper than Cherrys (I can only assume the higher overheads working out of Central Festival contributed to much of this) obviously I chose Warin as it was nearly one thousand uk pounds cheaper.

My veneers were porcelain, not the cheapest nor the dearest mid range I was told....the work took over two trips out here (at the time I was just a tourist...now resident) 18 months ago one veneer came loose, I went along on the off chance he may have had time to see me and after a wait of nearly one hour Warin re-attached it without CHARGE....he simply said "you have paid once and once is enough"

I cannot make any comments about any other dentists in this area whether they are better or not all I can say is that the treatment given to me by Warin as far as I am concerned was excellent and well affordable (cost me double back in the UK at the time) I will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone through my own experiences...if people wish to try others good luck to them
