Marc Marquez won his first race at Sachsenring on Sunday after returning from his huge crash a year ago in the Spanish G P .. the S'ring is notoriously hard on tyres with numerous lefthand bends in succession that can overheat the left-hand side of the tyre .. M'nM made the right call on tyre choice and made it pay with a first win of the season .. The KTM's of Oliveira and Binder are starting to consistently run in the top 6 with a blistering top end that is swamping all but the Ducati's and with a bit more race management will be serious contenders for the future .. sadly though it is beginning to look like the final season for Valentino Rossi .. ongoing rumours of mutual dissatisfaction twixt the man himself and Yamaha and now surrogate team Petronas have grown as this season progresses and his poor form continues .. there are rumours that a performance level has to be attained this season in order to trigger talks for next season's contract extension with Petronas and he has not got anywhere near that requirement so far this year ..

It is usually announced about the time of the Czech Republic round at Brno who the runners and riders for the following season will be .. expect some sort of announcement then ..

Or. an 1974 SX 125 Harley-Davidson.............well ,nearly  a HD, they  wanted a crack at then the  fast growing small 2 stroke  market ,so they brought a controlling interest in Aermacchi ,and produced this I can remember the bike magazines at the time advertising a 250 cc HD ,a 2-stroke single,I think they came from the same stable .

Did not last long ,the big four just about had the bike market ,with in a few years ,and these things were  ceased being make ,and what I can remember of the magazine write-ups  RIP would have been more app .

I used to know a guy named "Frenchy" that rode an Indian on the wall back in the late '70s early '80s for Strates Shows.

 

He also had a a beat up old Chief on a dyno to work the bally trick-riding. Two bikes and a go-cart on the wall at  the same time...

The frame was first produced in 1970 ,well ahead of its time, would not look amiss today ,the engine was capable of 90 bhp ,not bad in 1970 for a push rod engine .

A what if ,what if the British motorcycle industry had the money ,and management could make some changes what could have they produced .

The question is less what could they have produced, but what could they have produced it for. When labor gets more and more expensive, while at the same time getting less and less accountable, it's tough to be competitive. Combine that with escalating overhead costs and you're out of business.

Nice 2021 Triumph scrambler only 1,000 to be manufactured. If I was only 16 again... 

 

First moto Used 1968 ish Yamaha 125 scrambler .... Dad negotiated a trade for me 1959 MG .. similar to picture.

Paint was faded and no top.., drove it as was...

 

body was good .. ran good ... except Dad bitched a bit about 

adjusting carbs a good bit of times...

The original Greeves produced bikes from 1954 to 1977, when a fire destroyed the factory.  The name was bought in 1999 and a new trials model, the 280cc TI, was introduced in 2009.  I wish they'd start making some replicas of the earlier models as well.

The last of the original Greeves', a 1977 Greevesfield.  Seeing the popularity of modern retro scramblers, it would probably sell well if reintroduced, albeit with updated bits.  (Perhaps starting with the brakes).  I know that I wouldn't kick one off my driveway.

A Greevsefield ,a what ?

A look at at Google ,a Greeves frame with a Royal Enfield 350cc  Bullet engine.

Must have been a shoe horn job  to get the engine in to the frame, the original Greevs had a 250cc Villers 2-stroke engine .

Light weight and a very torquey engine .
