Sidecar speedway is predominantly raced in countries where driving is done on the left side of the road - Australia, NZ, UK, South Africa. However, even when done in countries that drive on the right, such as the US and Canada, it still goes clockwise. The general rule for grass track sidecar racing is 500cc (originating in Europe, but also raced in the UK) goes anti clockwise 1000cc (originating in the UK) goes clockwise I remember our local oval speedway track in NZ, all other events - stock cars, street stocks, saloons, solo speedway bikes, went anti clockwise, but the sidecars always went clockwise. This is where it gets tricky... From 1959. Note the added ballast on Bike #30. And the guy on 139, who appears to have got on the track by accident. I forgot about the midgets (1:42). Always good for a prang or two. Or ten. And the end of season demolition derby. Could have just as easily come out from underneath the bonnet (hood) of a late model car. I don't think i have ever seen an aesthetically pleasing water cooled motorcycle motor. Sorry. Much as this contraption below is prolly as useful as a chocolate fireguard, the motor, however, remains aesthetically pleasing.
