ballpoint
I saw this on the local news the other morning, and was reminded of the Raleigh ad I posted a couple of pages ago. emptypockets
Saw a great bike last week in Oz. A Suzuki Boulevard 600 or 650 single. Looked pretty good to me. Should have taken a photo as the press release don't do it justice. The one I saw looked liked a single cylinder Harley. Which was the reason it got my attention. Popular Post thaiguzzi
Just got back from my most recent ban. Well i could've been back a week or two earlier but i let it stew, and had to admit i'm a naughty boy to the Thai Visa Gestapo or Invisible People With No Sense Of Humour, purely because someone sent me a pm, and i'm a kindly, helpful soul, who likes to help their fellow man out. And could'nt reply to him until i admitted my (innocence) guilt. Anyhowz, both bike's little mods and upgrades finished, bit of spit & polish and a new photo sesh. Been out on both proper too lately with some breaks in the (cooler weather). My own bike porn...

Popular Post Randell
Yes very sweet you had both those bike for a lone time and it shows and I mean that in the best possible way. I assume you bent and modded those pannier racks on the Moto Guzzi very nice simple always seem to be best. I will willing admit to being green with envy. I only rode a Moto Guzzi one time in summer of 1969 it was a friends and he took his other bike a BMW and let me ride the red and gold colored Moto Guzzi 850 around the back roads in the flat delta land behind Vancouver toward Chilliwack BC.. I had no bike licence at the time. It was a very special treat for me and still remember it fondly to this day. My very first big bike my very first driveshaft. It was an awesome afternoon. So the Moto Guzzi's have a special place for me in my memory.

Johnny was his name, and he was a very talented fabricator, certainly far better than me. He's also the guy that cut and hinged the rear mudguard on that Guzzi and hence we offered that as a set price job to customers which proved quite popular. He also made the unique front headlamp mount for that bike. A man of many talents, who had a lot of health problems in his later life. Moto Guzzi Big Twins are certainly wonderful motorcycles, especially the earlier pre 95 ones which still had full heavy flywheels. A certain charm you never forget and i only wish i had discovered earlier in my motorcycling life. Edited July 9, 2019 by thaiguzzi

Popular Post ballpoint
I posted this photo in response to JG asking why Zenith Motorcycles incorporated the word "Barred" in their logo. As no one else has replied to that, here's some clarification: In 1905, when virtually all other manufacturers used a basic single speed belt drive transmission, Zenith came out with "Gradua Gear", a sort of manually controlled CVT system that varied the diameter of the belt-drive pulley while moving the rear wheel back or forwards to keep belt tension constant. The system was controlled by the circled crank in the picture above. Ride along, rotating the crank one way and the other to keep the revs in the best range, like a modern Honda car with CVT does automatically. riders of other manufacturers' machines complained that this gave Zenith an unfair advantage, and they were barred from many competitions because of it. In 1924, when the modern style gearbox and chain became the standard transmission system, Zenith went over to that.
