It’s heavy, unbalanced and hard to control. And Ducati Thailand are the worst when it comes to service. Monster is a much better go fast bike, and Multistrada is just a great all around bike. Disagree. 1. The Multistrada is a completely different genre, or kettle of fish compared to the above cafe racer which the guy was interested in. Disagree. 2. The air cooled 797 Monster and Scrambler 803 are virtually identical bikes. Same engine, same exhaust, same airbox and plastics, same s/arm, same weight. Same bhp and torque, same cc. Different trellis frame, wheels, front brake set up and cycle parts. Just wearing different clothes. Sorta. Unless you are comparing apples with oranges and talking about the 821 liquid cooled 4V bikes. Has it been converted to chain .? Its hard to tell from just the one side .. It's based on the current V7, which runs the shaft thru the dinky alloy s/arm on the right. Same as the V50 (500cc inc the famous Monza)and V35 (350cc) the bike is based on from the late 70's. These were designated the "small twins" from the factory. The bike below is based on a big twin Ballagio, with Guzzi's version of a single side swing arm. The same s/arm as fitted below on a custom Griso model. A year or two ago, i spied a 4V or 8V (can't remember) new grey import 100% legit Griso in a BKK dealers on their website. A cool 990,000 Thai Baht. Considering what you get over here for a mil, i thought it was a bargain. Wanted it badly. Did'nt have a mil. Never ever seen nor heard of a Guzzi v twin as we know it (ie mid 60's onwards) with a chain conversion.

Monster was what my gear head friend recommended if I wanted the Scrambler engine. Have you ridden Scramblers? I am sticking to my comments on poor balance, poor maneuverability and poor Ducati service.Great pics, thanks.Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Yeah, the Apollo was never going to make it. Thankfully. Police bikes and the touring market in Italy has been owned by Moto Guzzi since pre-war days. Ducati & most other Italian manufacturers are/were known for their sports bikes, even if they were 175/250 tiddlers. Moto Guzzi as well, but they were also (as well as Gilera with their big singles) heavily into the cop market and heavy duty touring models which (sensibly) were their bread & butter and paid the bills. 16 hours ago, Justgrazing said: Cooled out old Panther complete with Brough style petrol tank .. Now that is nice. Love it. Top speed 70 mph solo. Going up a steep hill with a sidecar & 3 people, top speed 69 mph... Not only the tank, love the Ducati-esque pipes. ********** I'll contribute some porn i actually own; 2

Yeah I've heard the Panther max' speed was pretty much the same solo or sidecar .. Justgrazing
3/4's of a brick .. Not you're usual first choice for cooling out but that is a nice paint job on the tank .. Had a blast on one of these back in the day from Gloucester to Brighton unbelievably smooth for a 3 and quite punchy at 70/80 mph ..

Much as i love my Vincents dearly, im not sure that it is an improvement over an air cooled 2V Ducati motor. Certainly valve clearance services should be quicker, but that is about it, as the air cooled Desmo 2V Ducati motor is reknowned for ease of service and longevity. And is also a looker in it's own right. Beautiful motorcycle though. I'm pretty sure i've seen a Ducati motor on the net in a Vincent rolling chassis with Vincent tinware also. My thoughts Guzz' .. as you say the original Duke lump wasn't too shabby anyway .. On looks there's not a lot to choose between them as the Vinnie engine is a thing of beauty .. I put it up as it its quite an unusual crossover .. I'll go look later for Vinnie's with Duke engines ..

Ta velly much. # Owned from new '79 T140E. 830cc, Weslake billet stroker crank with Carillo rods. Front brake is Yamaha FZR1000 Exup as are the forks (43mm instead of stock 36mm Triumph forks). Calipers are by the British company Billet Brakes. # Oil tank is stainless steel and holds a full gallon (4 litres in new money), but i run it at 6 pints with 2 pints of air. Originally the oil was in the frame, and BSA/Triumph designed it to be a 6 pint tank, but in their infinite wisdom it ended up as a 4 pint tank, hence why most OIF T120/T140's run hot in hotter climates. # Exhausts are 1 3/4" straight thru, 37" long, based on the '60's TT pipes, but exiting both one one side instead of underneath and finishing in front of the rear wheel. Bit too big a diameter for road use, 1/5/8" would be better and give more mid range, but they just don't look so cooooooooooool. ???? # Gaff is opposite my MIL's house, about 10kms away, my daughter was about that day and took a bunch of arty-farty photos, she's a bit handy with a camera. Here's a couple more shot on that day; You can see the massive 13" front disc and 6 pot caliper in this pic below,

If you want horsepower, you need to drive a car. 8.2 liter V-8. Around 10,000 horsepower, with torque around 7,500 lb-ft (with peak measured at 12,000 lb-ft ). Pretty peppy, too. 0-500+ km/hr in 3.8 seconds. Pretty interesting for motor-heads: https://motoiq.com/nerds-eye-view-inside-10000-horsepower/ Maintenance isn't too bad. Just a rebuild about every 5 seconds of run time or 300 meters, whichever comes first. Stuff like the crankshaft may last a minute or 3 km.
